NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT
Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
NYC: GORDON CHAMBERS AT THE BLUE NOTE
Gordon Chambers will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, March 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Chambers is no stranger to the music industry. The Teaneck, New Jersey, native has written for over 60 recording artists, including household names Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, Usher, Brandy, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, and Marc Anthony. He is best known for his 1994 Grammy-winning hit "I Apologize" for Anita Baker and his 1995 No. 1 Grammy-nominated smash "If You Love Me" for the trio Brownstone (which was later featured as the theme song of the film Living Out Loud). More recently, he's penned tunes for superstars like The Isley Brothers, Yolanda Adams, Patti LaBelle & Ron Isley, Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown, Angie Stone, and Beyonce. Last year, Chambers broke new ground as an artist with the release of his third solo album, Sincere. The album effortlessly melds a pop and R&B sound with a classic soul aesthetic that is certain to surprise and delight contemporary R&B fans and soul enthusiasts alike. There is a $10-$20 cover.
NYC: RHYTHM IS OUR BUSINESS: THE MUSIC OF THE NAT KING COLE TRIO
Join pianist Chris Pattishall and friends at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, March 17th as they pay tribute to the Nat King Cole trio on what would have been Cole's 95th birthday, with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Cole's influence is incalculable, and he has accordingly been awarded the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the DownBeat Hall of Fame. Chris Pattishall is a young and immensely talented pianist who regularly leads Late Night Sessions at Dizzy's, and he is often seen on our stage as a sideman with a huge variety of bandleaders. Check out this rising star and a prime example of Nat King Cole's endless influence. There is a $25 cover.

Colie Williams will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Monday, March 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Colette (Colie) Williams took the stage after her junior high school teacher recognized her vocal talent. She encouraged Colie to attend Music & Arts High School in Harlem where she majored in vocal studies. After graduation, Colie continued her studies at Syracuse University where she participated in their musical theatre program. Although an education major, performing piqued Williams' inherent love for music and provided her with a restorative experience that she would be unable to deny. Since arriving to the District, Colie continues to gain popularity by frequently appearing in famous U Street corridor venues that include, Bus Boys and Poets, The Islander, and Jo-Jo's. Colie's audiences frequently request her original material during her performances. Call for cover/minimum information.

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra performs every Monday night at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Still the Hottest Big Band in the City, The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece powerhouse force cofounded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians. Music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire.
