TODAY'S CABARET PICK - NYC: KAREN WYMAN RETURNS FOR 2 NIGHTS ONLY
After a thrilling show in October, Karen Wyman returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday & Saturday, December 20th & 21st at 7:00 pm. She is joined on stage by John Oddo on piano, Jay Leonhart on bass, and Eddie Caccavale on drums. A national sensation for a short time in the late '60s and early '70s Karen Wyman is electrifying the music world. Wyman was just 16 when she astonished Dean Martin and his national television audience. In short order she made appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and on shows hosted by Carol Burnett, Jim Nabors, Glen Campbell, Dick Cavett, David Frost, Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas. She performed in nightclubs and recorded two albums and several singles for Decca Records, and had another on the way. Then circumstances changed. Karen began to raise a family, performing infrequently. Her last full show was a one-off in Atlantic City in 1989. Now 24 years later, Wyman is back for more and back to stay. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
