CHICAGO: FUNNY OLD BROADS: OY VEY HOLIDAYS
After an extended hit run, the Funny Old Broads are back with their holiday extravaganza at GORILLA TANGO THEATRE (7924 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, IL - 847-677-7761) - new songs, new jokes as well as some of the old favorites. Performances are on Thursday, December 19th at 7:30 pm; Saturday, December 21st at 8:00 pm; Sunday, December 22nd at 2:00 pm; Tuesday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) at 8:00 pm; and New Year's Eve, December 31st at 8:00 pm. Chicago's newest hit "Funny Old Broads," which opened July 18th and was extended twice, is opening a holiday show: FUNNY OLD BROADS OY VEY HOLIDAYS! This show will feature some of the Funny Old Broads most popular pieces as well as new holiday themed fun stuff. 'Funny Old Broads' Oy Vey Holidays' stars Stand-up Comic Caryn Bark, Sit-Down Comic Robin Riebman and Musical Comics The Boomer Babes (Pam Peterson and Jan Slavin). In a salute of a woman who broke barriers and challenged stereotypes throughout her legendary career, Love Hangover will feature such legendary songs as "Love Hangover," "Do You Know Where You're Goin' To?," "Endless Love," "Good Morning, Heartache" and more! The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, directed by Scotty Barnhart, will perform atYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday & Saturday, December 20th & 21st with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. William Count Basie started the Count Basie Orchestra in 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri. Within a year, America was listening in on popular radio shows throughout the country to hear what would become "The Swingingest Band In All The Land"! A phenomena was born in 1935, that is still going strong today! Since Basie's passing in 1984, Thad Jones, Frank Foster, Grover Mitchell, Bill Hughes and now, Scotty Barnhart have led the Count Basie Orchestra and maintained it as one of the elite performing organizations in jazz. The Count Basie Orchestra has won 17 GRAMMY• Awards and 20 Downbeat and Jazz Times polls, more than any other big band in jazz. There is a $29-$35 cover.
