NYC: REV. YOLANDA'S OLD TIME GOSPEL HOUR AT THE DUPLEX

A delightful, feel good, gender bending celebration of old fashioned gospel and country gospel music, plus original music by Rev. Yolanda written in the old fashion style, will be presented at THEDUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Sunday, December 15th at 6:30 pm. This show takes a musical tour of Rev. Yolanda's transformational spiritual journey from a gospel music loving Alabama gay boy, to a Radical Faerie, Rock & Roll, GLBT Hall of Fame Transgender Warrior, to a New Thought Interspiritual Drag Queen Reverend. Directed by Rev. Shawn Moninger, the show features Rev. Roger Anthony Yolanda Mapes on vocals and acoustic guitar; Kenneth Gartman, Musical Director/Arrangements, piano, vocals. Special guests TBA. MAC & Bistro Award-Winning Vocalist Marieann Meringolo will bring her critically acclaimed Annual Holiday Show "In The Spirit" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, December 15th at 4:00 pm. She is joined by Doyle Newmyer, Musical Director with Boots Maleson on Bass and Brian Woodruff on Drums. Even with the enviable vocal shadows of Streisand and k.d. lang, Marieann Meringolo brings a dynamism all her own to the meticulous lineup of songs she chooses. She is a persuasive performer who can step on a stage and deliver songs with natural authority. She is currently proving this in her Annual Holiday Celebration at the Metropolitan Room. Patricia Neal: A Remarkable Life, starring Sinthea Starr, will be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sundays, December 15th & 22ndat 9:30 pm. The show is conceived, written and directed by Joel Vig with Musical Direction By Alex Rybeck. Sinthea Starr is a veteran of far too many stage and screen classics to possibly list. She has, for over 5 decades, been a household name in homes from Manaus to Cooch Behar and Tokyo to Timbuktu. Born the only child of semi-deposed Russian royalty, Starr's early training was with a band of travelling Gypsy acrobats and musicians. It was in this troupe that she met the young and unknown Yul Brynner, who was to become the first in a long line of rumored paramours including Mike Todd, Mike Wallace, Mike Tyson, Kirk Douglas, Melvin Douglas, Michael Douglas, Douglas MacArthur, Douglas Durst, Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Hank Williams, Tennessee Williams, Aristotole Onasis, Nicky Hilton, Nicky Haskell, Eddie Haskell, Walter Cronkite, Tallulah Bankhead, Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty, Warren Buffet, and Siegfried and Roy among others. Miss Starr's celebrated autobiography "BORN A LEGEND" is is its 137th printing and is available for download on your kindles and ipads. Her exercise video, "SINTHEA SWEATS TO THE SOUNDS OF THE 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's" has gone triple platinum and will soon be released on Blue Ray and 5 Channel Sound.

Cabaret Cares final show of 2013 will take place at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sunday, December 15th at 4:00 pm. Performing on the 15th will be Jim Speake, Gretchen Reinhagen, Jason Morris, Jamie Hartmann, Liz Mckendry, Stacey Todd Holt, Pamela Lewis, Tom Gamblin, Robert Ima, Val Moranto, Dave August, Brandi Massey, Brianna Davis, Debra Walton, and more to be announced. Musical Director is Tracy Stark. The show will benefit both Help Is On the Way Todaya non for profit founded by Joseph Macchia that helps and assists children, teens and youth living with HIV and AIDS, it will also benefit Leather Cares founded by Arsenio Amadis.
