CABARET TONIGHT IN PROVIDENCE: JOHN ABERNATHY 50TH BIRTHDAY SHOW
Rhode Island singer John Abernathy returns to the stage in a new cabaret show Live for Life! to celebrate his 50th birthday on Friday, December 6th at 8:00 pm (preceded by a cocktail hour at 7:00 pm) at THE MUSIC MANSION (88 Meeting Street, Providence, RI). Backed by the Tom LaMark trio and directed by Ida Zecco, the show features a variety of music by James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Jule Styne, Jerry Herman, and more. Partial proceeds for this performance will go to benefit AIDS Care Ocean State. In 2005, John Abernathy was featured in the 16th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center in a tribute to Broadway composer Jerry Herman sharing the stage with legendary performers Lee Roy Reams, Michael Feinstein, Marilyn Maye, and Mr. Herman himself. That same year, he also received a nomination for Best Male Cabaret Performer from the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) for his show A Cock-Eyed Optimist in Boston. AIDS Care Ocean State is dedicated to providing quality housing, case management, medical and nursing care, and prevention to adults, families, adolescents and children who are affected by or at risk for HIV infection. AIDS Care Ocean State will act as advocate for individuals and families at risk, while providing those support services needed to ensure and maintain high quality of life for the people we serve.
