CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: LUIZ SIMAS QUARTET AT BIRDLAND
The Luiz Simas Quartet with Luiz Simas (piano/vocals), Adriano Santos (drums), Itaiguara (bass) and Sue Terry (sax/clarinet) will perform atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Sunday, August 4th with shows at 9:00 & 11:00 pm. Rio-born Brazilian jazz composer/ singer/ pianist Luiz Simas is a genuine Carioca! A New Yorker since '89, he has led original groups in jazz festivals and clubs in Brazil, Norway, Switzerland, France and the Ukraine. Luiz' voice and music have warmed major venues including Birdland, the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Bargemusic. His CDs include Cafune, Impromptu, Luiz Simas Live in NYC, New Chorinhos from Brazil, Recipe for Rhythm and Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Forest) Piano Suite. There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
