NYC: "NOT AS CUTE AS PICTURE" ADDS DATES AT THE DUPLEX
"Not as Cute as Picture", a GLAAD-Media Award Nominee for Outstanding Theater: Washington DC, played to sold out houses in January this year and returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - ) for four additional performances, Fridays, February 8th & 22nd and March 8th & 22nd, all shows at 9:30 pm. The semi-autobiographical "Not as Cute", written and performed by J.D. Cerna, directed by Nick Demos (Oklahoma), partner in Demos/Bizar Entertainment (producer of Tony-Award winner, Memphis), first ran in Washington, DC. The play is set in 1994, a time when young gay men's pursuit of purpose was often obstructed by the crashing reality of AIDS. J.D.Cerna is a gifted writer/actor who uses a wicked sense of humor and his personal life experiences and perspectives to amplify the discussion around important LGBT issues and in particular, his own observations as a gay man. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
