CABARET NEWS FROM ALL OVER - D.C.
Sandy Bainum swings as Peggy Lee in new play "Ladies Swing the Blues: A Jazz Fable" currently being presented at METROSTAGE (1201 North Royal Street, Alexandria, VA - 800-494-8497) Thursdays through Sundays through March 17th. It's a play with great music, both standards and original songs, about one special night in 1955 when four divas, the likes of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee gather to commemorate the life of legendary musician Charlie Parker. It relates fascinating tales of bebop, blues, and jazz and experience the colorful personalities that define one of the most pivotal music periods of the twentieth century. Sounds exciting. If you're in the D.C. area, try to catch it.
