MORE "HERE & THERE" - THOUGHTS, COMMENTS, OBSERVATIONS (part 2) from NEWSLETTER 08/10/24

MORE "HERE & THERE" - THOUGHTS, COMMENTS, OBSERVATIONS (Part 2)

Well, as we said from the start, we would try to include as many items in these listings through September 12th as possible, and thats about it - its 12:30 pm and I have just a few minutes from some notes and will include more in the Thursday issue.

I had a fantastic visit with my three surviving siblings, Gladys, Eleanor and Ann in Grand Rapids over the weekend. Bracketed by two very smooth and comfortable non-stop flights, the weekend was filled with hours of touring (I lived in Grand Rapids for 6 years about 50 years ago while attending college and working for/editing a magazine for 2 years). It's been over 8 years since we all got together, and over 10 years since I've been to Michigan, so you can imagine all the catching-up we four had to do. Nice thing about the reunion was we are all still quite healthy (our combined ages were nearly 300 years!) and sharper than ever - the Hamstra clan is legend for their quick wit and most interesting discussion sessions, wether it be on politics, religion, science & technology or "the meaning of life."

Quick update on our relocation: Still no place found to move to, and no funds to move with. Daniel has a friend in Corona with a spare living room couch but it lacks an internet connection - we're going there on Wednesday to visit.

I was counting on a lot of members to renew their memberships for 20010-2011 over the weekend, but only 3 SILVER memberships came in. I am a bit disappointed, but fully understanding. I was just visiting a town with 14% unemployment, hundreds of empty storefronts and foreclosed homes, and even a church we passed was marked for sale.

Looks like CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE has to cut back to the very bone in order to survive. I was able to get 2 new banner ads for the website, for which I am very thankful.

Is CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE writing about you on TWITTER and FACEBOOK? Each day we promote some of the best cabaret events around the world via TWITTER and FACEBOOK and also on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE BLOG . The items are taken from the home page of the website - http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/ which also changes every day. But you won't know what we're saying about you if you don't follow us.

Just a reminder: there will be only one issue of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE newsletter next week due to the Labor Day Holiday - the regular Monday issue for LABOR DAY, September 6th, will be combined with the WEEKEND issue and will be published on Thursday, September 9th.

In the listings today we tried to include all the appropriate cabaret items through September 12th for which press releases were received (remember, fliers and website URLs are not press releases). However, time contraints made it impossible to include all this issue. Many club schedules for September have yet to be received as well. Hopefully the remaining schedules will be received so that we can include any items missed in the Thursday issue.

I remind you that we try to include and give preference to press releases received directly from performers and publicists, rather than rely on club schedule information or items posted on Yahoo or Google groups boards. We usually only use items from those other sources to fill in for dates for which we have no direct releases. If the issue is running long, we usually leave them out.

See a show or two this week! Visit our websites! Run a banner or sidebar ad! Join CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE for 2010-2011. Now - more than ever - cabaret (and CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE) needs your support. Every day, in every way, we're promoting cabaret!

Look for more news on the website , on the blog and updates, picks & reminders on TWITTER and FACEBOOK.

And that's just about the way it was. I still have a lot more to tell you about but we've run out of time so the rest will have to wait until Thursday's issue.

Thanks for your support of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE!

Hugs & Stuff,

STU
