S.F.: KIM SMITH MAKES SAN FRANCISCO DEBUT IN "MORPHIUM" (must see cabaret)
Currently based in NYC, Australian cabaret artist Kim Smith makes his West Coast debut at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189 - ) on Sunday, July 11th at 9:00 pm with "Morphium," a dark and glittering evocation of the decadence and decay of 1930's Europe. Kim Smith reinterprets works by Weimar-era composers, and modern-day artists alike, from Mischa Spoliansky and the Supremes, to Kurt Weill and Kylie Minogue. Steven Beck accompanies on piano, Christian Coulson directs. I saw the show in NYC a few months ago when it played at DON'T TELL MAMA and was completely captivated - the lad is hypnotic. Since then he's played to sold-out houses at JOE'S PUB and NEUE GALERIE, then went to Australia to perform, to sold out houses and with fantastic critical acclaim, at the ADELAIDE CABARET FESTIVAL and in Melbourne at THE BUTTERFLY CLUB.- << STU Tickets are $20.
