NYC: MARK JANAS' SALON AT ETCETERA, ETCETERA SKIPS A WEEK
There will be no SALON event this week due to the holiday weekend. Mark Janas' Salon will return on Sunday, July 13th at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141 - ) from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (signup starts at 6:15 pm). The Salon is where singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. As always, the theme is only a suggestion; you may perform anything you like in any musical genre: Broadway, pop, rock, country, jazz, classical, etc. Salon will continue every Sunday through July. There is a $10 cash cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN, on the Radio over WBAI 99.5 FM and on the Internet at http://www.wbai.org/, usually heard from 9:00 to 11:00 pm on Sundays, and is hosted by David Kenney. Each week David presents the usual blend of big-band jazz, swing, standards, showtunes, contemporary cabaret and celebrity interviews plus MEGA-MEDLEY MADNESS. NY STATE: BRIGADOON COMES TO LIFE ON FORT SALEM'S MAINSTAGE
Brigadoon, the mythical Scottish village that comes to life for one day, once every hundred years, comes to life this Independence Day Weekend in the idyllic New York village of Salem, on The MAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200 - ). Performances are Friday & Saturday, July 2nd & 3rd at 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 4th at 2:00 pm. Brigadoon has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and a score by Frederick Loewe. A co-production with the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, CA, the principal cast of characters (complemented by local performers) will open the show in Salem and repeat it two weeks later in California. The cast features its director Tim Nelson, and his wife, Mary Murphy-Nelson, part-time residents of Salem. Nelson, is Artistic Director at the Rose Center and heads the Musical Theater program and Huntington Beach, California's High School of the Performing Arts. Nelson appeared at Fort Salem last season, co-starring with Benita Zahn in the Neil Simon musical, They're Playing Our Song, another co-production with the Rose Center. Sawyer pays tribute to American-Italian pop tenor Maria Lanza with a selection of Neapolitan opera arias and other evergreen hits made famous by Lanza, interspersed with hip swaying Latin ballads such as AMORE, QUANDO QUANDO and SWAY. Frankie Sawyer has been singing since he was 9 years old and for many years sung in various Operas, Operettas and musicals with the Eoan Group and Capab (now Artscape) His career lead him to many principal roles both in South Africa and abroad. This event is part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series. "Singin' in the Shower" is a behind-the-scenes look into the one place where stage fright doesn't exist and clothing isn't required. Its the stage where today's entertainers debuted their talents: The Shower. Broadway, television, nightlife and the internet's past, present and future stars will align for one night only to sport their best bathroom attire and sing their favorite shower show tunes all to raise money for the Nashville Flood relief effort. Hosted by professional bathtub belter and dinner-tainment's Bradley d. Gale, "Songs from Behind the Bathroom Door" will feature Broadway and "American Idol" alumna Diana DeGarmo, internet sensation Miranda Sings, Altar Boyz' Travis Nesbitt, Nightlife's Kenny Holcomb, Elizabeth Jones from "The Most Interesting Show in the World," Jessalyn Gliebe, and Jermaine Miles. NYC: KEVIN DOZIER'S "TAKE ME TO THE WORLD" AT FEINSTEIN'S
Vocalist Kevin Dozier will be performing his show "Take Me to the World" on Monday, July 5th at 8:30 pm at FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095 - ). This will be his Feinstein's debut. Under the Musical Direction of Alex Rybeck with Direction by Lennie Watts, the show includes songs by Stephen Sondheim, Maltby and Shire, Rusty Magee, Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Tom Lehrer, Lerner and Loewe, and John Bucchino. There is a $25-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
