HERE & THERE - PART I - BLOG EDITION

HERE & THERE - PART I

While we are calling this issue our WEEKEND EDITION, we did make an exception to our set goal of just including a few listing items on Thursdays, concentrating on news, views and reviews. We have quite a number of press release items in this issue, since we sort of fell behind schedule on trying to cover all events three weeks out. With this issue we nearly make that goal - all news through the 24th except for two important news items.

The Monday issue will include a rundown of the CABARET CONFERENCE AT YALE shows, open to the public, the week of July 24th through 31st, plus a report on the MELBOURNE CABARET FESTIVAL which opens on July 21st.

We have just 7 tickets left for our own "festival" on Tuesday, July 13th at 7:00 pm at THE LAURIE BEECHMAN - the 20th ANNIVERSARY OF GALA CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. I was hoping we would be sold out by now. It has been a tough year financially for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and we depend on the annual anniversary show to help us make it through the very slow summer cabaret months. We're so thankful to the folks who stepped forward to sponsor the event, since that means at least we can't lose any money, since all expenses are covered. And we're also happy to report that the three cover pages on the program booklet are sold as well (of course we can't sell the front cover). The premium back cover was actually purchased by some folks in Australia!

I am just a little disappointed that several folks who have regularly attending our birthday events haven't purchased tickets this year - we have a great show lined up! And the performers who have volunteered their time and talent to the show truly deserve a full house. And if you can't attend, you can support the newsletter/website/blog/twitter feeds by purchasing an ad in the program booklet (1/4 page is just $25) - but you need to act quickly, since we need to go to press on Monday morning.

We've passed the 150 mark on memberships - you can join for as little as $5 - but we still have about 300 folks who have not renewed for 2010-2011 (we did gain about 40 brand new members!) Now is the best time to join/renew since you can take advantage of a full year of benefits. You can see all the levels/costs of membership JUST CLICK HERE
And, thankfully, we've received a few new banner orders - folks taking advantage of our special July-August 20th Anniversary "SUPERSIZE IT" deal - we're selling the SUPERSIZE banners for the cost of the REGULAR size - just $30 per week (3-week minimum) - details below.

I hope anyone who sends in a press release will please remember that your news item only appears once in the newsletter unless you are running an ad or are a members who is offering a discount to other members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. Advertiser items appear in every issue, members offering discounts will have their item repeated in every Monday issue. But all items are included on theCABARET EVENT LISTINGS page on the website, currently showing all events already included in the newsletter through July 31st. And since we try to include all items up to three weeks out. We hope to have all the items through July 31st included in Monday's issue, so August items should start to appear in the newsletter soon.

The heat wave continues here in NYC, and after two rather scary incidents when I attempted to go outdoors for events over the past several days, I am not taking chances, even though there are several cabaret shows going in this week that I really want to see. My brain still thinks I am about 23 years old, but my body reminds me (more often now than before) that I am indeed 71 years old.

By the way, cabaret news items that appear in the newsletter also appear on theCABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website - and then we choose our "picks" to appear on the day of the event, on the blog - and on our 4 Twitter timelines. So, by sending your item in (if we can use it) your news will be read by our 2700 subscribers, posted on a website that now gets 10,000 visits a day, and published on a blog that gets over 400 visits a day, and sent out (day of your event) to a cumulative total of neatly 1000 twitter followers.
