NYC: 1930s IDOL WINNER RETURNS TO THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
This year's reigning 1930s Idol champion, Sigali Hamberger, takes another departure from her take on the classics that earned her the title, to reprise her acclaimed show "Solstice" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Thursday, July 8th and Wednesday July 21st, both shows at 7:00 pm. In the show, Sigali explores a more contemporary and complex set of standards, art songs, and Broadway gems from Arlen and Azanavour to Bernstein and Bucchino. She lends her shimmering soprano to the contemporary works of Sondheim, Guettel, and Yeston along the way. Musical direction & arrangements are by Ido Alexander and the show is directed by Eric Michael Gillett. Rodgers and Hart were on to something when they wrote about the noble pursuit of singing for one's supper. Sigali wants nothing more than to do just that. Her theater work includes roles inThe King & I, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, She Loves Me, The Mikado, Country Club, and A Christmas Carol. More recently she finds at home on the cabaret stage singing the standards, both classic and contemporary, from the American songbook to Broadway. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
