NYC: RICHARD MALAVET SINGS BILLY ECKSTINE
Cabaret/jazz vocalist Richard Malavet brings his new show, The Billy Eckstine Project, Songs in the Key of "B" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Thursday, July 8th at 9:45 pm and Saturday, July 10th at 7:30 pm and. Musical director is John Di Martino. The show reveals the untold story of one of America's iconic heartthrobs. Malavet has been crooning audiences with his silky baritone voice, performing at such notable cabaret venues as Don't Tell Mama's, Eighty Eights, Judy's Chelsea, Danny's Skylight Room Cabaret, Mama Rose's and The Encore. His 2001 cabaret show, "The Right to Love" was held over twice and was a hit with audiences and critics alike. Currently, Richard recorded his self-released CD debut entitled "Who Can Say What Love Is?", featuring a dynamic and eclectic suite of songs by legendary songwriters/composers Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne, Betty Comden, Adolph Green and Leonard Bernstein, Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern, as well as songs by the inimitable R&B / pop innovator Ray Charles, acclaimed composer/conductor Lalo Schifrin and newcomer Ben Moore. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
