NYC: LANCE HORNE WITH "LANCE & THE LADIES" AT BIRDLAND

Lance Horne will return to BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, October 20th at 7:00 pm as part of the "Broadway at Birdland" series. The Emmy Award winning composer, musician, vocalist and producer, will present "Lance & the Ladies", a musical party celebrating not only Lance's birthday but his friendships with women and his love of the female voice. Special guests include the Julia Murney, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Gabrielle Stravelli, Julie Garnye, Lesley Gore, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Lauren Flanigan. Direct from his acclaimed collaboration with Meow Meow at Berkeley Rep, Lance will present world premieres of songs from the new musical The $trip, selections from The Night Before My Wedding - Horne's opera written with Neil Gaiman - and numbers from his acclaimed CD First Things Last. There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: OLIVER'S CINEMA AT THE BLUE NOTE

Direct from the Netherlands, Oliver's Cinema lands at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, October 20th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Oliver's Cinema is an uncommon instrumental combination with an inimitable sound and spirit. And fun. Oliver's Cinema is Eric Vloeimans' latest project. He's an improvising Dutch trumpeter and one of the finest, most versatile - and busiest - performers in Europe. Accordeonist Tuur Florizoone from Belgium with charisma and joy in performing. Classically trained German cellist Jorg Brinkmann adds a third magical timbre to this trio. Their repertoire is original as well as established, and the trio performs at jazz festivals, chamber music series, clubs, churches - wherever! It's versatile, mobile, colorful and charming - veering among jazz / classical / pop / film music that's had to pinpoint, but accessible to all ages and tastes. There is a $15-$20 cover.

NYC: MARIANNE SOLIVAN AT DIZZY'S

Jazz vocalist Marianne Solivan will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, October 20th at 9:30 pm. She will be joined on stage by Bruce Barth, piano; Matthew Parrish, bass; and Jerome Jennings, drums. Bringing together her own mix of tradition and originality, vocalist Marianne Solivan has paved a way for herself like no other young singer on the scene. Surrounded by a top of the line rhythm section and a vast and varied repertoire that can challenge any song hound, Solivan is poised and ready to break into the jazz spotlight. Performing songs from her latest release SPARK and accompanied by Bruce Barth, Matthew Parrish and Jerome Jennings, this is sure to be a swinging affair. There is a $20 cover.
