NYC: "LOOK WHO'S IN LOVE," A CABARET CELEBRATION OF ROMANCE

On the heels of a successful run earlier this year, and as part of their ongoing one-year anniversary celebration, distinguished entertainers Christine Reisner-Rebic (an international cabaret chanteuse and dancer) and Don Rebic (Broadway and cabaret musical director and composer) return to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Wednesday, October 15th & Sunday, October 19th, both shows at 7:00 pm. "Look Who's in Love" features their original songs as well as songs by veteran Broadway composer Albert Hague (Christine's uncle) and timeless jazzy standards by Irving Berlin, Jule Styne, Jimmy Van Heusen, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. "Look Who's in Love" celebrates the possibility of finding love at any stage of life, with amusing patter that describes the couple's courting days, which led to their partnership in music and in life. They will premiere three songs they composed together: "You're Making Me Nervous," "Two Heads Are Better Than One," and "Leap of Faith;" attendees will each receive a complimentary copy of their first CD single, "Two Heads Are Better Than One." Christine and Don will also share insider anecdotes from their showbiz careers, including how they were both influenced by Bob Fosse. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: RICHARD HOLBROOK: THE UNTAPPED FRED ASTAIRE REVISITED

Richard Holbrook returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sundays, October 19th & 26th at 8:00 pm with his new show 'The Untapped Fred Astaire Revisited'. The show will pay tribute to the legendary dancer's other talents as a gifted songwriter, excellent musician, and most of all, a superb interpreter of song. Among the composers featured in this program, whose music and lyrics were introduced by Fred Astaire, are Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern & Dorothy Fields, Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz, and Harold Arlen & Johnny Mercer. Richard will be accompanied by the Tom Nelson Trio (Tom Nelson on piano; Tom Kirchmer on bass; and Peter Grant on drums). Tom Nelson is the Musical Director. Richard Barclay is the Director. NYC: T OLIVER REID: REMEMBERING HARLEM 1934

Singer and Broadway star T. Oliver Reid leads what he describes as "a club hopping journey through the swanky clubs and low down joints of 1934 Harlem," at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 19th at 7:00 pm. He will be featuring the music of Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Andy Razaf, and more. In this new show, Reid performs each number with the unmistakable dramatic flair of a musical theater veteran, and he also provides an overview of the clubs, musicians, and social context of the music. Funny, informative, and a consummate showman, Reid will transport you back to the heyday of iconic venues like the Cotton Club. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. 

NYC: BROADWAY ON 22ND STREET - ENCORE!

'Broadway on 22nd Street' returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 19th at 9:30 pm with a special encore performance of the first show of the series, presented 4 years ago. Producer Joseph Machia has assembled the cast of that show, for this event: Doreen Montalvo Mann, Andrew Chappelle, Michael Lewis Mejia, and Televsion,Film and Broadway Star Anita Gillette. The concept of the show is to bring someof the most talented up and coming Broadway Actors and well as some very well known ones and introduce them to the world of Cabaret. Each performer creates a mini set of 4 songs that include many Genres. The evening will feature Yasuhiko "Yaz" Fukuoka as Musical Director. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: THE MEETING* HOSTED BY JUSTIN SAYRE AT JOE'S PUB

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Sunday, October 19th at 9:30 pm for the continuation of its landmark 6th season. The October show will include a tribute to the Broadway and Hollywood star Julie Andrews, with special guests Katie Thompson, Gabrielle Stravelli, Kim Smith, Danielle Grabianowski, Rob Maitner, Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director. Other shows at Joe's Pub this season will include a tribute to Warhol Superstar Candy Darling (November 16th) and the 6th annual Holiday Spectacular (December 7th). Each month, the I.O.S gathers to honor an artist or a cultural work that is iconic to the gay community. Tickets are $20. 

NYC: SIMPLY STREISAND AT 54 BELOW

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents 'Simply Streisand' on Sunday, October 19th at 7:00 pm. In this celebration of all things Babs, some of Broadway and cabaret's finest voices celebrate the music of a legend. From Funny Girl to The Way We Were to little gems from A Star is Born, Yentl and her more than 45 best-selling albums, Barbra Streisand has stood the test of time like no other artist. At Simply Streisand, you'll hear an array of music from her catalogue, accompanied by a three piece band with narration from 54 Below's own Director of Original Programming (and host of the popular Sondheim Unplugged), Phil Geoffrey Bond, who will fill the audience in on special bits of Striesand lore, history, assorted tales and out and out gossip. From her humble beginnings in the cabarets of Greenwich Village straight through to her mega-stardom, Simply Streisand covers it all! There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum. 

NYC: LESLI MARGHERITA - ALL HAIL THE QUEEN

Lesli Margherita presents 'All Hail The Queen' at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Sunday, October 19th at 9:30 pm. An evening of sheer entertainment, All Hail the Queen is totally more than a cabaret. It's a Vegas-style nightclub act. Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda, Zorro) takes the "reigns" from the likes of Bette Midler and Liza Minnelli. Commanding the room with sass and bawdiness - plus some self-deprecating humor for good measure - Miss Margherita sings and struts her way through the 70-minute set, which includes twists on old songs and new favorites (courtesy of musical director/arranger Brett Ryback). With hilarious storytelling and showstopping numbers, the evening offers something for everyone. There will be feathers. There will be sparkles. And you better believe there will be worshipping. All Hail the Queen, written and conceived by Margherita, will be directed by Lauren Bass with musical direction & arrangements by Brett Ryback (Murder for Two) and produced by Jordan Bass & Lauren Bass. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

Each week David presents the usual blend of big-band jazz, swing, standards, showtunes, contemporary cabaret and celebrity interviews plus MEGA-MEDLEY MADNESS.
