FRAMINGHAM, MA: AMAZING THINGS OPEN MIC FEATURING BONNIE MACLEOD

Every second Wednesday of the month Leslie Holmes hosts an amazing Open Mic night at the AMAZING THINGS ARTS CENTER (160 Hollis Street, Framingham, MA - 508-405-2787), and each show features a special guest. On Wednesday, May 14th the featured guest will be Bonnie MacLeod. Pianist for both Bonnie and the open mic is Tom LaMark. Bonnie MacLeod is a highly versatile and accomplished pianist, singer and composer. She combines a fascinating and eclectic array artistic influences in her performances. Her gifts have brought her around the world including Europe, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa. Having lived in New York for 17 years, she appeared at such venues as the Rainbow Room, the Waldorf Astoria and Windows on the World. She also appeared in several off Broadway productions including Noel Coward's "Waiting in the Wings". She has performed on Regency Cruise Lines with itineraries featuring Alaska, South America, the Caribbean and New York-Montreal. Her original compositions for piano are beautiful, delightful and diverse. Her influences include classical, jazz and impressionist techniques. The open-mic starts at 7:00 pm (signup at 6:30 pm), and the featured performers go on at 8:10 pm. There is an $10 cover charge ($9 cover for BACA members).

BOSTON: AJ JANSEN IS A COUNTRY REBEL ROSE

Talented, Edgy, Driven and an award winning singer/songwriter and vocalist, AJ Jansen will perform atSCULLERS JAZZ CLUB(400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Wednesday, May 14th at 8:00 pm. AJ is now in New England and Nashville where she performs all over to Country Music fans and her zeal for singing and song writing is evident in the lyrics, and the melodies that come straight from her heart. Dinner/Show: $65 Show only: $25.

TORONTO: SOUL NANNIES AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

The Soul Nannies, a 9-piece R&B, Funk & Soul Band featuring Andrew Craig will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday, May 14th at 8:00 pm Earth, Wind and Fire; Sly and the Family Stone; Kool and the Gang; Ike and Tina Turner; Aretha Franklin; Patti Labelle; James Brown; Michael Jackson; Stevie Wonder: These artists defined the sound of the 1960s and 70s, and changed popular music forever. The Soul Nannies, Toronto's nine-piece spergroup, bring back the classic soul, funk and R&B sounds from these artists and their contemporaries. Founded and directed by music maestro Andrew Craig, The Soul Nannies deliver faithful renditions of top hits from the era, in the style of a high-energy 1960s revue. WASHINGTON D.C.: ANTONIA BENNETT AT BLUES ALLEY

Antonia Bennett, daughter of legendary singer Tony Bennett has been performing alongside her father since she could walk and talk. On Wednesday, May 14th she will perform solo at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Some of her early performances were shared with legendary American icons such as Rosemary Clooney, Count Basie, Regis Philbin, Don Rickles, and growing up with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Gene Kelly. Call for cover/minimum information.

BETHESDA, MD: SIDE BY SIDE WITH DORIS JUSTIS AND SEAN MCGHEE

Doris Justis and Sean McGhee are celebrating May 14th as the exact date that they met and decided to form a folk duo 30 years ago! Their show 'Side By Side' will be presented at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Wednesday, May 14th at 7:30 pm. Paul Prestopino and Ron Greenstein, accompanists for The Chad Mitchell Trio and Peter, Paul and Mary will join them. Side by Side is noted for their close vocal harmonies and guitars backing their original interpretations of the best folk/acoustic songwriters and performers. The duo has shared the stage with a who's who of folk: Tom Paxton, Schooner Fare, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Noel Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary), Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bill Danoff, Jon Carroll, Christine Lavin and the Limeliters among many others. There is a $20 cover.
