Manhattan-based singer Rebekah Lowin celebrates the legacy of the late singer Eva Cassidy at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, August 7th at 9:30 pm in her powerful new show "I Know You By Heart: The Songs of Eva Cassidy". With direction by Lauren Fox, musical direction and guitar by Peter Calo, cello by Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf, and loving input from Eva's own family. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

The show is a new night of music and stories from one of the most hilarious and recognizable names from RuPaul's Drag Race herstory: Shangela Laquifa Wadley. With a creative mix of stand up comedy, original songs and the electrifying stage performance that Shangela has become known for, this new show promises to be loud, country and out of control. Mallory Gladman brings her show 'This Dancer Sings' to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Friday, August 7th at 9:30 pm. Mallory literally means "bad luck" in almost every language. Hope is her middle name. This show is her story full of unfortunate timing and hopeful thinking. NYC: JEKYLL & HYDE RESURRECTION AT 54 BELOW
'Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection' will be presented at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Friday & Saturday, August 7th & 8th at 7:00 pm with a second show on the 8th at 9:30 pm. Based on the Broadway musical thriller written by Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection is a live concert featuring the music and songs from the 2006 album starring Rob Evan, Kate Shindle and Brandi Burkhardt and produced by Frank Wildhorn and Jeremy Roberts. The album launched a full symphonic version that toured the US and South Korea. This musical retelling of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic takes a modern, dark and Rock influenced approach with the three stars and a full rock band delivering the highly charged and melodic score. Jekyll & Hyde Resurrection will serve as a reunion of original Broadway cast members Rob Evan and Kate Shindle. Rob Evan played the title roles over 600 times on Broadway and more than 1000 total performances world-wide. He is currently a lead singer in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and is featured on THE LOST CHRISTMAS EVE (Atlantic/Cert. Double Platinum) and NIGHT CASTLE (Atlantic/Cert. Platinum) which debuted at #5 on BILLBOARD's Top 100. This concert will mark Evan's return to the role on a New York stage for the first time in 15 years. Kate Shindle (Lucy) made her Broadway debut in the musical after being named MISS AMERICA in 1998. Kate went on to star in Legally Blonde, Cabaret and Wonderland on Broadway. She currently serves as President of Actor's Equity Association. Featuring performances by: Rob Evan as Jekyll & Hyde, Kate Shindle as Lucy and Janine DiVita as Emma with musical director Jeremy Roberts and a killer band featuring TSO's Angus Clark on Electric Guitar. Original concert directed by Vincent Marini. There is a $40-$89 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

Broadway's Carly Hughes performs 'Live at 54 Below' on Friday, August 7th at 9:30 pm at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551)! With eight Broadway shows to her name, Carly Hughes has quickly established herself as a recognizable talent, both onstage and off. Carly has most recently starred on Broadway as Velma Kelly in Chicago, The Leading Player in Pippin, and in Beautiful as Lucille/Shirley of the Shirelles (performing her song "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" on the 2014 TONY Awards, "The Today Show," and "The View"). Other Broadway credits include: The Book of Mormon, Ghost, Ragtime, Putnam County Spelling Bee and The Grinch. For the past 14 years she has starred in various shows at regional theaters across the country. You can also hear her singing in almost every song in the upcoming Ahrens & Flaherty movie musical, Lucky Stiff. Carly is a recipient of the prestigious Princess Grace Award for Acting. You will hear Carly's unique song stylings on some Jazz, Pop and everything in between, all performed with a whole lot of class and a little bit of sass! RighteousGIRLS (flutist Gina Izzo and pianist Erika Dohi) celebrate the release of their debut album gathering blue, at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday, August 7th at 7:00 pm. They wul be joined by special guests: composer/ steel pan player Andy Akiho, and drummer Kendrick Scott, known for his work with Terence Blanchard, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano and many others. 'gathering blue' draws together RighteousGIRLS and their collaborators in duo/ trio settings (drums, steel-pan, trumpet) while integrating improvisation and post-production techniques. 'gathering blue', released on July 10 on New Focus Recordings, features music by nine contemporary classical and jazz artists including Akiho, Akinmusire, Pascal Le Boeuf, Christian Carey, Vijay Iyer, Dave Molk, Mike Perdue, Jonathan Ragonese, Randy Woolf. Their music incorporates complex meters, improvisation, and nonconventional forms, illustrating the duo's evolution and the colors they've collected. Virtuosic, adventurous, and charismatic, RighteousGIRLS play with white-hot intensity and cool control. There is a $15 cover.

Help industry darling John Early pick his headshots LIVE in Literally Me, a searingly intimate evening of stand up, short films, music, and body rolls at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday & Saturday, August 7th & 8th at 8:30 pm. Special guests include Yazan and the Gates Family Band, Hamm Samwich, Jacqueline Novak, and Hadiyah Robinson. John Early is a comedian who was recently named one of 50 Comedians You Should Know in 2015 by New York Magazine's Vulture and one of New York City's Top Ten Downtown Cabaret Performers by Time Out New York. He has appeared on 30 Rock, Broad City, High Maintenance, the feature Fort Tilden (SXSW Grand Jury Prize), Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp for Netflix, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, and in his own short films which he writes and directs. He is a writer for Season 4 of Billy on the Street. He is an Artist in Residence and Comedy Curator at Ars Nova, where he hosts the monthly variety show Showgasm. He performs his solo show Literally Me at Joe's Pub, a live sketch show Hey• with frequent collaborator Kate Berlant, co-hosts a weekly stand up show at Cake Shop, and has been a part of the Riot LA South, Southwest comedy, Just For Laughs Montreal comedy festivals, and the upcoming Festival Supreme.
