NYC: METROPOLITAN ROOM'S 8TH ANNUAL METROSTAR TALENT CHALLENGE

The fifth night of the Metropolitan Room's 8th Annual MetroStar Talent Challenge will take place at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm The contest began on Monday, July 6th and runs for eight consecutive Mondays through August 24th. "MetroStar" encourages singers to present well-rounded stage performances in which creativity, innovation and authenticity are prized over vocal fireworks. Open to solo singers and vocal duos of all ages, backgrounds and styles who have not played a major engagement at the Metropolitan Room, which is defined as a 4-show prime-time run of the same show in a fixed period. "MetroStar" offers a career-boosting package of prizes and professional encouragements, including a fully produced primetime Met Room engagement and live recording. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Celebrate Broadway's brightest "tween" stars as they strut their stuff to benefit HELP IS ON THE WAY TODAY at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, August 3rd at 9:30 pm. The energetic and exciting evening will feature:

Lucas Schultz - Just back from his critically acclaimed performance as Theo in Pippin (National Tour) as well as in A Christmas Story (Broadway) and Mary Poppins (National Tour)

Jimmy Horan (Musical Director/Arranger) has served as musical director, conductor, pianist, and arranger in New York and New Jersey Regional theater for over three decades. His credits include: (Broadway): Meet Me In St. Louis; The Producers; (Regional): Paper Mill Playhouse, Westbury Music Fair; (Cabaret venues) Metropolitan Room, Laurie Beechman Theater, The Duplex, Don't Tell Mama, Stonewall, Rose's Turn, and Danny's Skylight Room; Comix Club, musical director and arranger for King (Carole) For A Day, featuring leading New York City cabaret artists. Horan is an original collaborator, arranger and musical director for The Broadway Four, a popular male quartet playing such venues as The Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Room, and private venues throughout Manhattan. There is a $24 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: RAY DEFOREST: GURL TALK AT MAMA'S

Marty Madden and Double D productions bring Award winning entertainer and actress, Doris Dear to DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Monday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm. Dear, seen on countless stages around the globe and in movies & TV shows like "The Carrie Diaries", "Boardwalk Empire" & "The Normal Heart", is "in residence" at "Don't Tell Mama's"! After her smash success debut cabaret last fall at Stage 72, she is once again with the award winning team of director Lina Koutrakos, musical director Rick Jensen and Tom Hubbard on bass. "Doris Dear's Gurl Talk, the Rumpus Room Edition" will be taking the stage at Don't Tell Mama's starting on March 9th at 9:15pm. Each show will welcome a very special guest star into the "Rumpus Room". On July 6th, the special guest will be the award-winning Sean Harkness. NYC: DAVID JOSEFSBERG AT 54 BELOW

Broadway's funny man David Josefsberg returns to 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 ) on Monday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm to make his solo debut! Currently standing-by next door at Studio 54 in An Act of God, Josefsberg has appeared in Honeymoon in Vegas, Motown, The Wedding Singer, Grease, and Les Miserables. He recently graced the 54 Below stage in the cast reunion concerts for The Wedding Singer, and off-Broadway's Altar Boyz. Don't miss a night of songs and laughs with one of Broadway's best! There is a $30-$65 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.


NYC: 54 BELOW PRESENTS BROADWAY'S SAUNDERS SIBLINGS 

Four of the talented Saunders siblings present an evening you'll never forget at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday, August 3rd at 9:30 pm. Alanna Saunders (NBC's Peter Pan Live!), Heath Saunders (Lennon: Through A Glass Onion), Claire Saunders (Nancy Meyers' The Intern), and Trent Saunders (Disney's Aladdin on Broadway) will rock you with a mix of original pop and contemporary Broadway. You won't stop smiling as you groove with hits and harmonies from One Black Man, Heath and Trent's comic cabaret featuring arrangements of songs written for one black male voice and performed by two half-black tenors. Go on, challenge yourself to pick your favorite between identical twins Alanna and Claire. You've never heard Jason Robert Brown, the traditional "Old Man River", and "Our Prayer" from The Color Purple sung quite this way before. There is a $25-60 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.M.


NYC: JAGGED LITTLE PILL: LIVE IN CONCERT - A FUNDRAISER FOR RICOCHET COLLECTIVE

Jagged Little Pill: Live In Concert - A Fundraiser for Ricochet Collective will be held at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Monday, August 3rd at 7:00 pm. Travel back to the mid-90's and revisit Alanis Morissette's seminal work, Jagged Little Pill, performed live in its entirety to celebrate the album's 20th anniversary. Lead by singer/ songwriter Emme, this event will feature an eclectic mix of musicians gathered to honor a piece that holds a special place in the hearts of many. Guest performers include Robyn Adele Anderson ("Postmodern Jukebox"), Joey Calveri ("Rock of Ages"), Lora Lee Gayer ("Doctor Zhivago"), Ali Grieb (Joe's Pub Artist in Residence), singer/ songwriter Jacob Mondry ("Amerigogo"), and Camille Trzcinski (NYMF's "Next Broadway Sensation"). This event is a fundraiser for Ricochet Collective and their upcoming production of HAPPILY AFTER EVER, which they will be taking to Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland on August 14-20. Ricochet Collective is a newly formed collection of artists and designers whose goal is to explore and expand the potential of live art by producing visceral, arresting experiences that fully immerse the audience in each storytelling event. There is a $25 cover.


NYC: BIRDLAND PRESENTS AN EVENING WITH LAURA OSNES

Laura Osnes makes her Birdland solo concert debut accompanied by Fred Lassen in "An Evening With Laura Osnes" at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, August 3rd at 7:00 p, Best known for her Tony-nominated performances in Cinderella and Bonnie & Clyde, Ms. Osnes has also starred on Broadway in Anything Goes, South Pacific, and Grease. Including tunes from her two solo albums and sharing her favorite songs and stories from past shows and cabarets, Laura is sure to delight audiences with her vocal versatility and genuine charm. Laura Osnes was most recently seen on Broadway as the title role in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Drama Desk Award; Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League Award nominations). Osnes also starred in Bonnie and Clyde (Tony Award nomination), Anything Goes (Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Astaire Award nominations), South Pacific, and Grease. Other New York credits include The Threepenny Opera (Drama Desk Awardnomination; Atlantic Theater Company); Encores! Productions of: The Band Wagon, Randy Newman's Faust, and Pipe Dream;and a one-night-only concert of The Sound of Music at Carnegie Hall. This past spring, Osnes starred opposite Steven Pasquale in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel under the direction of Rob Ashford at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. On television, she has been seen on the CBS series "Elementary", in the HBO pilot "The Miraculous Year", Sondheim: The Birthday Concert at Avery Fisher Hall, HBO's documentary Six By Sondheim, and the Kennedy Center Honors salutes to Barbara Cook (2011) and Dustin Hoffman(2012). Her many concerts and cabarets include performing with Michael Feinstein, the NY Philharmonic, the NY Pops, and the Pasadena Pops and appearing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, The Cafe Carlyle, 54 Below, NJPAC, and the Las Vegas Smith Center. In addition to being heard on several cast recordings, Laura has two solo albums, Dream A Little Dream: Live at The Cafe Carlyle and If I Tell You: The Songs of Maury Yeston. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.


NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
