NYC: THE METROPOLITAN ROOM WELCOMES BACK SYLVIA MIMS

Sylvia Mims returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, August 5th at 7:00 pm with an eclectic jazz set including a medley of Michel Legrand compositions, Stevie Wonder, an ode to the music of Brazil, and a few surprises. Sylvia is a legit vocalist with classical training and a jazz sensibility, capable of weaving intricate stories with an exquisitely colorful voice. Her rare gift of singing moving renditions is simply captivating. Sylvia Mims is a rare talent, seamlessly blending a deeply rooted jazz sensibility with classical training. Sylvia's timbre is like a signature: unique and making each song personal and each story genuinely lived; her extraordinary vocal range is matched by that of her favorite genres: the Great American Song Book, early and contemporary Jazz, Bossa Nova, Broadway, R&B, and Blues. Sylvia recently released her debut CD "Where Lovers Live". Originally from Los Angeles, Sylvia was extremely active in southern California, being the featured vocalist of the Swing Jazz City Orchestra, and performing at prominent Jazz hot spots. Notable accompanying musicians include Tamir Hendelman, Karen Hammack, Billy Higgins, Roy McCurdy, Putter Smith, Earl Palmer, Bobby Rodriguez, Kendall Kay, Jamie Findlay, Dave Koonse, and Gene Bertoncini. In the Tri-State area, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, as a winner in the Golden Voices of America competition, and numerous venues in CT and NY. Sylvia's warm, breathtaking vocals are a conduit to a uniquely appealing and engaging live experience. She is equally compelling singing jazz legend Horace Silver's Nica's Dream as she is performing Your Daddy's Son from the musical Ragtime. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.


NYC: ERIC COMSTOCK & BARBARA FASANO BRING BACK "SHOULDER SEASON"

Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano•will reprise their best summer holiday moments in a special encore of their critically acclaimed "Shoulder Season" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30 pm. The well-traveled swinging summer cocktail has already been seen at The Colony Palm Beach, since opening a six-show Met Room major engagement on June 1st. "Shoulder Season" (the phrase is borrowed from the travel industry to describe the off-peak times between high seasons) covers ample ground. Thrown into the couple's steamer trunk is everything from Sinatra to Strayhorn to Springsteen. More dates in the homestand will be announced soon. The celebrated husband-and-wife pop-jazz duo toasted their 10th wedding anniversary last August. Among their many kudos are an impressive three MAC Awards in one year, including Vocal Duo of the Year, Outstanding Female Vocalist and Record of the Year. Fasano's fourth CD, "Busy Being Free" drops this fall. Comstock, a 2015 Bistro Award winner and co-creator and star of the long-running Off-Broadway hit revue "Our Sinatra," recently released his fourth CD, "bitter/sweet." They've been everywhere: Carnegie Hall, The Appel Room and Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Feinstein's, The Carlyle, Birdland, Jazz at Kitano, and the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics and Lyricists" series. Criss-crossing the country they've headlined at Caramoor; Cooperstown Music Festival; Arizona Jazz Festival; Guild Hall in East Hampton; Sheldon Concert Hall and Jazz at The Bistro in St. Louis; Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston; Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, and The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. They recently popped up at Crazy Coqs at Brasserie Zedel, making their London debut. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Powerhouse vocalist Tanya Moberly returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) with a reprise of her acclaimed show series "Songs I Feel Like Singing", with four different shows with four different musical directors. The final shows are on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30 pm and Friday, August 14th at 9:30 pm accompanied by Steven Ray Watkins featuring songs by: Betty, Toni Childs, Paula Cole, Dan Fogelberg, Indigo Girls, Billy Joel, Carole King and Annie Lennox. NYC: TOSHI CAPPUCCINO'S CINDERELLA HONEYMOON DELUXE

Toshi Cappuccino's Cinderella Honeymoon Deluxe will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 ) on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30 pm. The show is a Summer Special Edition featuring the songs of Japanese pop diva Hiromi Iwasaki, celebrating her 40 years in show business. Toshi is a big fan and has selected his favorite Iwasaki songs, reimagining her hits in Samba, Jazz, Salsa, Rap, Funk and Bossa Nova styles. Toshi will perform with American musicians on piano, bass, drums and backup. Performance in English. Americans welcome! Toshi Cappuccino has performed at the Duplex 22 times since March 2013. His performances there have consistently sold out. This show is written, produced, directed and performed by Toshi Cappuccino. A native of Hakata, he is an entertainer, critic, producer, TV personality, and a voter for the New York Drama Desk Awards. Toshi is also member of WAHAHA-Hompo, one of Japan's biggest comedy troupes. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.


NYC: BROADWAY WORKSHOP: LIVE AT 54

Past and current Broadway Workshop students take center stage at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, August 5th at 7:00 pm to sing their favorite songs from past Broadway Workshop productions. Shows include: The Little Mermaid, The Secret Garden, Legally Blonde, Xanadu, Carrie, and Bring It On. All proceeds benefit Project Broadway (http://www.broadwayworkshop.com), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. There is a $30-$70 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.


NYC: NATIONAL YIDDISH THEATRE 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AT 54 BELOW

"Another 100 Years", part of KulturfestNYC's Encore Series, features a Broadway cast performing popular show tunes of our time at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 ) on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30 pm. They will perform songs spanning from Tin Pan Alley to Broadway, from operettas to contemporary musical theatre - celebrating the influence Yiddish and Jewish culture has had and continues to have on shaping The Great White Way. From Irving Berlin to Rodgers and Hart, to Comden and Green, to Sheldon Harnick, to Stephen Sondheim, to Jason RobertBrown, the Yiddish influence of Broadway's music and lyrics has carried from one century onto the next. The concert is produced in conjunction with National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's [NYTF] historic 101st Season and is performed in English. Special guest contemporary songwriters will premiere their new work at the end of the evening. The cast is comprised of Loni Ackerman (Evita, Cats), Lawrence Craig (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme), Russell Fischer (currently Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys), Andrew Keltz (The Golden Land), Garth Kravitz (The Drowsy Chaperone), Elyssa Brette Mactas (Mean - The P!ink musical, Chix 6), Maddy Trumble (Newsies, Wicked), Jessica Mortellaro (Into the Woods), Martina Weidenbaum, Alan Wiggins (Beautiful The Carole King Musical, The Lion King) and more to be announced. "Another Hundred Years" is conceived and produced by Chris Massimine, KulturfestNYC's Executive Producer; Jamibeth Margolis; and Megan Minutillo. Minutillo will also direct. Ben Krauss (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) will provide Music Direction. There is a $25-$60 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.


NYC: WYNN WALENT WITH ESTHER DESIR & PAUL BEAUBRUN: A BENEFIT CONCERT FOR ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL IN HAITI

Wynn Walent, with Esther Desir & Paul Beaubrun, perform at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555 ) on Wednesday, July 5th at 9:30 pm. Wynn Walent's new CD, 'With Friends From Here and There', is a benefit for Haiti, with all funds donated in honor of the record going directly to St. Luke's Hospital. Tracks were recorded in a small chapel in Tabarre, Haiti, as well as in Brooklyn, NY. Wynn spent several years living in Haiti and continues to travel back and forth extensively working to support the Haitian leadership at St. Luke's Hospital. Paul Beaubrun has played extensively in Europe, South American, Canada, the US, and his homeland, Haiti, garnering great acclaim for his unique brand of roots rock. His most recent record is entitled Vilnerab and he is currently working on an English debut. St. Luke's Hospital in Haiti treats thousands every year, providing high level specialty care to patients who would otherwise have nowhere to go. NYC: DANIEL KOREN: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING

Comedian Daniel Koren, an Emmy nominated comedian/ composer originally from Israel and now based in New York, brings his show 'The Most Important Thing' to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555 ) on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30 pm. Koren is in search of the most important thing. Together with a virtual choir of alter egos, Daniel redefines musical comedy. With over a million views with his innovative videos, Koren has translated his online success into a live performance. Daniel graduated from Berklee College of music and his work has appeared on Comedy Central's Tosh.O, the Huffington Post and Ryan Seacrest. There is a $15 cover.
