NYC: KAREN OBERLIN: HIS AIM IS TRUE; THE SINGULAR SONGS OF ELVIS COSTELLO

Karen Oberlin,a fan of Elvis Costello since her early teens, when his young angst, disillusionment and vulnerable heart seemed perfectly in synch with her own, brings her show "His Aim Is True: The Singular Songs Of Elvis Costello' to STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) on Thursdays, June 4th, 18th & 25th at 7:00 pm. SAN DIEGO, CA: BENEDETTO BLESSED WITH RUSS LORENSON

The best is yet to come as singer & recording artist (and San Diego native) Russ Lorenson honors an American music icon, Tony Bennett, the man whom Frank Sinatra called "the best singer in the business." at MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500) on Thursday, June 18th at 8:00 pm. The world knows him as Tony Bennett, but his birth name - Benedetto - means "blessed", an accurate adjective to describe both the man and his fans. Newly updated for 2015, the show also features Mr. Bennett's latest partnership with the incomparable Lady Gaga! In honor - not impersonation - Russ will perform an array of the crooner's hits in the warm and husky style of the star, and tell the story of this amazing artist's life. He is joined by guest performer Ria Carey. Russ Lorenson, "San Francisco's Favorite Crooner," has established a reputation as one of the San Francisco Bay Area's leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop - the very essence of the Great American Songbook. Nominated for a 2007 MAC Award by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets, Russ Lorenson's passion for the stage started as a youngster, with a performing career that began at age seven in his home town of Philadelphia. As an actor he has appeared in award-winning musical productions with theatre companies throughout the US, and has toured with the National Theatre for Children. As a vocalist he has toured the US, UK and Europe, appearing in concert with such luminaries as Broadway stars Teri Ralston (Company, A Little Night Music, The Baker's Wife), Karen Mason (Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Sunset Boulevard) and Dale Kristien (Phantom of the Opera), Andrea Marcovicci, Wesla Whitfield, and as the opening act for the legendary Eartha Kitt. Lorenson is best known for his critically-acclaimed tributes to two American musical icons, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin. His one-man celebrations of the lives and music of these two greats have played to sold-out audiences across the US. His two CDs have received extensive radio airplay in major markets across the US and both CDs were included on the Nominating Ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards in the category of "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album" alongside such artists as Tony Bennett, Michael Buble, and John Pizzarelli. There is a $20-$25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
