So put on your party clothes, grab your besties and head down to the Oasis every Thursday through Saturday through July 3rd, where the cosmopolitans will be as plentiful as the laughs in this uproarious drag send up. Sex And The City: LIVE! features Sue Casa (Carrie Bradshaw) (Ms. Star Search 2013) D'Arcy Drollinger (Samantha Jones) (Shit & Champagne), Lady Bear (Miranda Hobbs) (Bear-Barella) and Daft-nee Gesuntheit (Charlotte York) . Costumes by Tria. The show is directed by D'Arcy Drollinger. The "girls" are four young professional women in search of the perfect relationship and, of course, the perfect orgasm. Each episode features multiple storylines that tackled relevant and modern social issues including sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases, safe sex, promiscuity, femininity and of course shoes - while exploring the difference between friendships and relationships. Sex and the City the original HBO series received both acclaim and criticism for its subjects and characters, and spawned two feature films, Sex and the City (2008) and its sequel Sex and the City 2 (2010). It also won seven of its 54 Emmy Award nominations, eight of its 24 Golden Globe Award nominations, and three of its 11 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Sex and the City still airs in syndication worldwide and has been listed on Entertainment Weekly's end-of-the-decade "best of" list and as one of Time magazine's 100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME. There is a $25-$30 cover - VIP $200-$500.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA: ENGLISH SONGBIRD, •JULIA FORDHAM, FOR ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY!
FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) welcomes English songbird, Julia Fordham for one performance only on Thursday, June 18th at 8:00 pm. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of her landmark album, "Porcelain," Fordham will perform the album in its entirety. Accompanied by her long- time pianist and album producer Grant Mitchell, they will also perform some of her other hits along with a few surprises. Julia Fordham's remarkable singing and heartfelt compositions make her a unique voice and talent of breathtaking diversity. From 1988's "Happy Ever After" - her first release and an international hit - to her most recent, "The Language of Love," these extraordinary characteristics are etched indelibly throughout Julia's musical career. Produced and arranged by Julia's long- time collaborator, pianist and musician extraordinaire, Grant Mitchell, "The Language of Love," is a jazz album featuring covers of songs that were also hits on the Japanese charts. Supported by an outstanding ensemble of leading Los Angeles musicians and Latin jazz aficionados, this seductive collection includes swing, bossa nova and traditional trio interpretations of familiar chart- toppers. "The Language of Love" also debuts two original songs written by Julia, "Like You Used To Do" and "The Morning After (The Night With You)," and includes a new World Music - flavored rendition of "Happy Ever After." The original version was a #1 hit in Japan. At age 14, Julia started writing songs and playing them in local folk clubs. Soon after, she was invited to be a guest singer with NYJO (the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in the UK) which sparked a lifelong love of the genre. On her highly acclaimed second album, "Porcelain," two original jazz songs "For You, Only For You" and "China Blue" were featured along with the hits "Manhattan Skyline" and "Lock and Key." This year marked the 25th anniversary of the release of "Porcelain." Julia celebrated by touring the UK for a month of sold out shows. In 1992, "Love Moves" (from her third album "Swept"), was chosen as the theme song for "The Butcher's Wife," starring Demi Moore. A big hit in both the UK and US, it also reached the #1 slot in the Philippines. Her 10th album, "China Blue," is a collection of original jazz compositions, except for one song: a reinterpretation of Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgetting" with Michael himself contributing his amazing vocals. Tickets for Julia Fordham range in price from $35-$50 and are on- sale now and available by calling 866-663-1063 or visiting http://www.ticketweb.com . There is a $20 food/drink minimum.
