NYC: KAREN MASON RETURNS TO MAMA'S IN JUNE WITH CELEBRATED MARCH SHOW

Karen Mason returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) in June with a reprise of her critically acclaimed ten-show engagement of "Mason at Mama's in March" - with shows planned for two consecutive Sundays and Mondays - June 21st & 22nd, and 28th & 29th, all shows at 7:00 pm. The shiw is a reminiscence-filled romp through the songs and stories of her early career. With music direction by Christopher Denny and stage direction by•Barry Kleinbort, "Mason at Mama's in March" celebrates the new era of cabaret which she and her cohort Nancy LaMott helped usher in at Mama's when the late Bob Hoskins and Erv Raible, the club's original owners, picked them to open the club with twin shows in November 1982. A harbinger of a new, confident approach in which genres and styles were mixed, Mason revisits some of the classics and original songs she and her longtime musical collaborator Brian Lasser introduced at the time. Willing from the start to blur the lines between theater and cabaret, Mason would continue to sustain the connection becoming both a Broadway leading lady and cabaret icon with an unprecedented 10 MAC Awards, including a string of six consecutive Major Female Vocalist wins. Her most recent single, "It's About Time" (honoring marriage equality), was written by her husband Paul Rolnick and Shelley Markham. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
