INDIANAPOLIS, IN: LINDA LAVIN AT THE CABARET

There's a new girl in town, as Tony and Golden Globe winner, Linda Lavin, takes the stage at THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB (121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN - 317-275-1169) with her acclaimed jazz combo, including Billy Stritch on piano, Steve Doyle on bass, hubby Steve Bakunas on drums, John Hart on guitar, and violinist Aaron Weinstein. Performances are Friday, June 26th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, June 27th at 7:00 pm. Five-time Tony nominated singer and actress, Linda Lavin, is known for playing the title character in the sitcom, Alice, as well as for her stage performances, both on Broadway and off-Broadway. She began acting on Broadway in the 1960s, earning notice in It's a Bird ... It's a Plane ... It's Superman and received her first Tony Award nomination for Last of the Red Hot Lovers in 1970. She moved to Hollywood in 1973 and began to work in television, making recurring appearances on Barney Miller before getting the title role in Alice, which ran from 1976 to 1985. In 1987, she returned to Broadway, starring in Broadway Bound (Tony Award), Gypsy (1990), The Sisters Rosensweig (1993), The Diary of Anne Frank (1997•1998) and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife (2000•2001), among others. In 2010, she appeared as Ruth Steiner in Collected Stories, garnering her fifth Tony nomination. She starred in NBC's short-lived sitcom, Sean Saves the World in 2013 as Lorna. There is a $35-$65 cover plus a $12 food/drink minimum.
