LONDON: LUCY DIXON AND HOWARD SAMUELS AT THE CRAZY COQS
Lucy Dixon and Howard Samuels return to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) for three performances of their sell-out show 'Invade My Privacy', a cabaret devoted to the genius that is and was Fran Landesman. Performances are on Tuesday through Thursday, May 12th through 14th at 8:00 pm. Dixon and Samuels first met in the Sondheim musical Company and worked together again in the National Theatre's production of Frogs before pairing up with director Linda Marlowe on the highly acclaimed original production of 'Invade My Privacy' (Riverside Studios, Kings Head and Criterion Theatre). The show is once again directed by Linda Marlowe and backed by the glorious piano playing of Gary Jerry. Fran Landesman was a beat poet, songwriter and lifelong bohemian until her death in July 2011. Her work combines pathos and humour and glows with a tough wisdom gleaned from a lifestime of riding in fast convertibles and hanging out in smoky bars. Occupying the ironic territory between Dorothy Parker and Stephen Sondheim, her frank, piercing insights into family affairs and tangled romances take no prisoners. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THE CRAZY COQS
Harold Sanditen, jazz-cabaret singer and veteran theatre producer, is host of Open Mic Night at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) every Thursday at 10:30 pm, ably supported by regular musicians Michael Roulston on piano and Jonty Fisher on bass. It is always an entertaining evening full of fun and surprise. Aimed at both the jazz and theatrical communities, The Crazy Coqs Open Mic Night welcomes all singers, composers and musicians, up & coming and established, who want to do a turn, performing new material or old favourites. For the audience, come and catch that proverbial 'rising star' (or possibly a famous West End name) in the intimate, "jewel-box" surroundings of The Crazy Coqs. Call for cover/minimum information.
