NYC: SINGER-SONGWRITER RHONDA ROSS AT BIRDLAND

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents singer-songwriter Rhonda Ross at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, August 18th at 7:00 pm. Ross, along with her slamming jazz band (Terry Burrus on piano, Dominick Maybank on bass, Kevin Harrington on drums, Terelle Tipton, Keesha Gumbs, & Sheniqua Trotman on background vocals, Duane Eubanks on trumpet, and Darrly Yokely on sax) will appear on the historic Birdland stage after captivating audiences at Madison Square Garden and The Montreal Jazz Festival. Neo-Soul Jazz Stylist, Rhonda Ross's uplifting and resonant voice immediately strikes a chord with music lovers. And her unique phrasing and authenticity to her art sets her apart from other vocalists. As the only child of Diana Ross and Motown Founder Berry Gordy, it has become evident that Rhonda not only has the talent, but the significance to carry on her parents' legacy, all the while establishing her own unique musical destination. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT OF JAZZ WITH JULIE EIGENBERG & YARON GERSHOVSKY

Vocalist extraordinaire Julie Eigenberg, accompanied by Grammy Award winning pianist and composer Yaron Gershovsky, will present ' A Beautiful Night of Great Jazz' at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, August 18th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Together with Boris Kozlov on Bass and Norberto Goldberg on Percussion, they bring you Julie's soulful interpretations with some swinging fun and jamming original songs. Julie Eigenberg co- wrote "Why Not!", and Yaron Gershovsky did the arrangement, for which the Manhattan Transfer won the 1983 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal of a Group, on Atlantic Records. Together they will explore new arrangements of familiar standards and Brazilian classics along with original songs from Julie's Polystar Co. Japan, Ltd. recording, produced and written with David Spinozza. There is a $10-$15 cover.

NYC: THE AMIGOS: SONGS OF THE SOUTHLAND AT DIZZYS

The Amigos, featuring Brianna Thomas and Marcus Printup, perform Songs of the Southland at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, August 18th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. The Amigos are Justin Poindexter, guitar/lap-steel/vocals; Sam Reider, accordion/vocals; Noah Garabedian, bass; Will Clark, drums; and special guests Brianna Thomas, vocals, and Marcus Printup, trumpet. They deliver foot-stomping, accordion-infused Americana music, blending folk-rock, zydeco/cajun, and hot jazz. Rockin' solos, daredevil vocal harmonies, and wild western-wear have taken the Amigos from sold-out shows at Lincoln Center to the Philadelphia Folk Festival and Nashville's Music City Roots. Fresh off a six-week tour of Southeast Asia for the U.S. Depart of State, The Amigos are gearing up for an exciting summer schedule with vocalist and Jazz at Lincoln Center favorite, Brianna Thomas. These sets will feature new Amigos compositions inspired by travels in the southeastern United States, as well as the music of Gene Austin, Jimmie Rodgers, and Bessie Smith.
