NYC: CHICAGO REPRESENTS A TOUCH OF COWARD IN NEW YORK
A night celebrating the life and legacy of Sir Noel Coward presented by four Chicago cabaret and theatre favorites will take place on Saturday, June 21st at 7:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). The show, "A Little Touch of Coward in the Night: The Words and Music of Noel Coward, will be performed bt Chicago's acclaimed Jefferson Award winner and Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble member Robert Breuler; Jefferson Award nominated actress, winner of the After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist and the Chicago Cabaret Professionals' Gold Coast Award, Suzanne Petri; After Dark Award and Lifetime Achievement Award winner Bob Moreen and Danny Boy Sing-Off winner and Helen & Tim Meier Achievement Award honoree John Eskola. They will take you underneath the music and behind the scenes of the man known as The Master as the ensemble re-imagine beloved songs, including "Why do the Wrong People Travel?" "I've Been to a Marvelous Party," "If Love Were All," "Mad About the Boy," "Mrs. Worthington," "Ziguener," "Nina," and "Matelot." There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: JUDY AND LIZA TOGETHER AGAIN AT MAMA' S
Cabaret favorites Tommy Femia and Rick Skye have teamed up for another evening of "Judy and Liza Together Again" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturdays, June 7th & 21st at 8:00 pm. They are joined by Ricky Ritzel (as Mort) at the piano. These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/ daughter team in show biz history. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". Rick Skye is best known for writing a string of outrageous comic revues including "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka", "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable", "The War of the Mama Roses", "It's Madame with an E" and the International hit - "A Slice O' Minnelli" for which has enjoyed successful season's in Covent Garden, at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End and at the Dublin Theatre Festival where he received the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance". There is a $25 cover charge and a 2 drink minimum.
NYC: THE VAUDEVILLIANS AT THE BEECHMAN
The Vaudevillians, last year's smash hit returns to New York at to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) for a limited run, Sunday, June 15th through Sunday, June 22nd at 7:00 pm (no show on Tuesday, June 17th). The Vaudevillians stars RuPaul's Drag Race sensation Jinkx Monsoon as "Kitty Witless" and accredited composer and musician Major Scales as Dr.Dan Von Dandy. The show has been retooled and contains some songs and material never performed in New York before! Throughout the 1920's Kitty Witless and Dr. Dan Von Dandy toured speakeasies and burlesque theaters through the United States as THE VAUDEVILLIANS, wowing audiences with their edgy, original music. Unfortunately, one day, tragedy struck. While touring through Antarctica, they were victims of a devastating avalanche and were buried under two tons of sleet and snow - instantly freezing them alive. But thanks to Global Warming, they recently thawed out only to discover that pop artists of various decades had stolen their music and passed it off as their own. Much to their shock and chagrin. Now, at long last, they are taking to the stage to reclaim their songs, performing their music as originally composed. Call for cover/minimum information.
NYC: JANE LYNCH IN 54 BELOW SOLO CONCERT BEBUT
Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Jane Lynch comes to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday & Thursday, June 18th & 19th at 7:00 pm and Friday & Saturday, June 20th & 21st at 8:00 pm for her solo concert debut! Fresh from her iconic portrayal of Sue Sylvester on Glee and her Broadway debut in Annie, Jane will now provide audiences at 54 Below with four unforgettable June nights. Jane began her theatrical career and developed her comic skills at The Second City, Steppenwolf Theatre and in many church basements all over the greater Chicago-land area. In addition to Glee, Jane's TV credits include Desperate Housewives and Weeds, as well as the final season of The L Word opposite Cybill Shepherd. She has had recurring roles on Two and a Half Men, where she was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress, Criminal Minds and The New Adventures of Old Christine. With her wit and luminous stage presence, Jane served as the host for the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Jane also has a long list of film credits, including Julie & Julia; Christopher Guest's For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind and Best in Show; Talladega Nights; The 40 Year Old Virgin; Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events; and many more. NYC: THE JULIE JAMES SHOW RETURNS TO 54 BELOW
"The Julie James Show" starring SiriusXM Radio Program Director & celebrity host Julie James returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 pm. Julie spills the showbiz beans with snappy stories and original songs sure to dazzle any musical theatre lover. A fast-paced romp of a variety show with hilarious new songs, long-lost Broadway gems, and an impromptu visit with celebrities in the audience, the show is a delight for Broadway fans and pop-culture geeks alike.
