NYC: THE VAUDEVILLIANS WITH JINKX MONSOON

RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon makes her New York debut at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909 ) with the premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS, a musical comedy show co-starring composer and musician Richard Andriessen. Perfromances are Monday, October 14th at 10:00 pm; Tuesday, October 15th at 7:30 & 10:30 pm; and Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:30 & 11:30 pm. Throughout the 1920's Kitty Witless and Dr.Dan Von Dandy toured speakeasies and burlesque theaters through the United States as THE VAUDEVILLIANS, wowing audiences with their edgy, original music. Unfortunately, one day, tragedy struck. While touring through Antarctica, they were victims of a devastating avalanche and were buried under two tons of sleet and snow - instantly freezing them alive. But thanks to global warming, they recently thawed out only to discover, that pop artists of various decades had stolen their music and passed it off as their own. Much to their shock and chagrin, songs including "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (which was originally about the woman's Suffragette movement), and "Drop it Like it's Hot" (which was originally about the invention of the electric iron) had become hits for lesser artists. Now, at long last, they are taking to the stage to reclaim their original music, performing it as originally composed. Tickets available throughhttps://web.ovationtix.com - plus there is a $15 food/drink minimum.

In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. NYC: HIS ROYAL HIPNESS LORD BUCKLEY AT 54 BELOW

After a decade of sold-out runs in London, off-Broadway and Los Angeles, creator and star Jake Broder brings his critically acclaimed international success to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551 - ) on Tuesday, October 22nd at 9:00 pm. Musical director is Mark Hartman. Jake Broder ("Mozart" in Sir Peter Hall's Broadway and West End productions of Amadeus) exquisitely re-incarnates Lord Buckley, the largely forgotten counter-culture icon of the 1940's and 50's and granddaddy of American comedy. Lord Buckley did for comedy what Elvis did for music. His work inspired Robin Williams, Johnny Depp, Whoopi Goldberg, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, Bob Dylan and Ken Kesey. In His Royal Hipness: Lord Buckley, Jake Broder and his Be-Bop Jazz trio transport the audience back to an exciting reimagining of Buckley performance, a swirling mix of comedy, be-bop and cabaret.
