NYS: THE SPURS USA INAUGURATE FORT SALEM SPRING CABARET SERIES

NYS: THE SPURS USA INAUGURATE FORT SALEM SPRING CABARET SERIES

The Berkshire-based classic country western band, The Spurs USA, brings their special blend of great music and entertainment to the TheMAINSTAGE AT FORT SALEM THEATER (11 East Broadway, Salem, NY - 518-854-9200) with a brand new show for one show only on Saturday, April 6th at 8:00 pm. The first show in the cabaret's spring series, "They Write the Songs: A Springtime Salute to the Great Songwriters," the Spurs USA pay unbridled homage to the ground-breaking singer/songwriters of country western music, including Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn. Six musicians with disparate musical backgrounds, members of the Spurs USA joined forces some eighteen months ago, sharing their common love of the country western tradition. Between them all, there's more than a 125 years of professional musicianship. Bass player John Barrett played hundreds of gigs starting in the sixties, opening for touring bands including The Grateful Dead. His band mates come to the country-western mix with backgrounds in rock, bluegrass, folk, and classical music, and include extra-curricular skills including public relations, real estate development, and stained glass artistry. Bookings for subsequent weeks of the Fort's Songwriter Series include Bob Warren and his six-piece folk band on the Mainstage on April 13th; Broadway dance guru Karin Baker's five-person song and dance revue, Echoing Back, saluting Johnny Mercer, on April 20th; and Beautiful Girls: Celebrating Sondheim's Women, on April 27th. The $25 admission includes a $5 credit toward coffee and dessert provided by Norene and Fred's of Salem; advance reservations are recommended.
