NYC: THE METROPOLITAN ROOM PRESENTS ASAKO
THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) presents Asako on Thursday, April 4th at 7:00 pm. She is joined by Michael Kanan on Piano; Neal Miner on Bass; and Michael Petrosion on Drums. Born in Toyama, Japan, Asako fell in love with Jazz when she was 20 years old. She was encouraged by her long time mentor and singer Hirotaka Izumi. Her first professional engagement was to sing the Japanese National Anthem on Nippon Broadcasting Inc of Japan. Moving to New York City in 2004, Asako has been on the scene ever since and also recently started to study with Concord Recording Artist, Karrin Allyson. Her CD "All of Me" marks her first recording and features some great standards with lovely arrangements with a stellar band. (Part of) All of Me - will be released in 2013. There is a #20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
