NYC: RACHAEL SAGE'S 'TCHATCHKES & LATKES!' SANDY RELIEF BENEFIT
Art-pop songstress Rachael Sage brings her campy, inspiring 'Tchatchkes & Latkes!' back to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555 - ) for a December 22nd Holiday event, as a Benefit for Hurricane Sandy Relief. Showtime is 7:30 pm. Her post-Hanukah pre-Christmas musical hijinks will feature Sage's quirky theatricality at its best - an upbeat evening of vaudevillian shtick, playful Yiddishkeit, tall tales, wacky props, pianistic flair and hilarious, written-on-the-spot, topical compositions. She will share the stage with some of her talented New York neighbors, including cellist Dave Eggar and trumpet player Russ Johnson. All net proceeds from this performance will benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief. A native downtown New Yorker, Sage was impacted by the Hurricane but realizes she was more fortunate than many. She was without power and heat for five days. Sage's Edinburgh Fringe Festival one-woman shows, her Joe's Pub appearances, her acting background (she studied at The Actors Studio and The New York Shakespeare Lab at The Public Theater), all combine to create a singer-songwriter with a compelling stage presence. There is a $12 cover.
