TOR: ROLAND HUNTER SEXTET AT TORONTO'S LULA LOUNGE
Innovative latin jazz guitarist and composer Roland Hunter will be performing a set of mostly original latin-jazz tunes with a band comprised of many of Toronto's finest latin-jazz players at LULA LOUNGE (1585 Dundas Street, Toronto, ONT, CAN - 416-588-0307) on Friday, October 5th from 8:00 to 9:15 pm. The band includes Luis Deniz, alto sax; Dave Restivo, piano; Jalidan Ruiz, congas; Roberto Riveron, bass and Amhed Mitchel, drums. Originally from Vancouver Island, Roland Hunter moved to Toronto in the early 1990s in order to immerse myself in the eastern Canadian jazz scene, which at the time wascomprised of guitar greats such asthe legendary Toronto-based Ed Bickert and Montreal's iconic Sonny Greenwich. He has performed with many of Canada's leading jazz musicians including: Terry Clarke, Shelly Berger, Pat Collins and Richard Whiteman. He was graduate of the York University Jazz Program in 1995.
