NYC: AN EVENING WITH JULIE GOLD WITH GUEST PETER YARROW
Grammy Award Winner Julie Gold returns to her "home" in the West Village,THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Monday, October 1st at 7:00 pm, performing her series "An Evening with Julie Gold". Julie will share her songs and stories with the help of the beautiful and talented Margaret Dorn and Emily Bindinger. The series continues on the 1st Monday of every other month. Julie is a New York songwriter best known for her song, "FROM A DISTANCE," which was made famous by Bette Midler and won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1991. A wide range of recording artists have covered it, including Jewel, Cliff Richard, The African Children's Choir, Judy Collins, The Byrds and Donna Summer - just to name a few. Julie's Special Guest this month is legendary songwriter Peter Yarrow from Peter, Paul & Mary. He is a beloved national treasure and composer of songs such as Puff, the Magic Dragon, "Day is Done", "Light One Candle" and "The Great Mandala." He also co-wrote "Torn Between Two Lovers", which became a number one hit for Mary McGregor. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
