NYC: STEVE ROSS AT NEUE GALERIE
Cabaret icon Steve Ross will be performing on Thursday, October 25th (call for showtime) at NEUE GALERIE(1048 Fifth Avenue, NYC - 212-288-0665 - ) in a new show entitled I'M IN LOVE WITH VIENNA - STEVE ROSS SINGS THE WEIMAR-AMERICAN SONGBOOK. Steve will be featuring songs sung mostly in English by composers from Berlin, Vienna and Budapest who journeyed to and worked in London, New York and Hollywood in the Twenties, Thirties and Forties such as Walter Jurmann, Bronislau Kaper, Mischa Spoliansky and Nicholas Brodszky. You'll hear gems from operettas which aired on Broadway and in Hollywood by Franz Lehar, Emmerich Kalman and Robert Stolz. He will be including music by American composers and lyricists who were distinctly influenced by their mittel-Europa musical forebears - Bock and Harnick, Kander and Ebb, Dietz and Schwartz, Jule Styne, Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II, Frederick Loewe, Jerome Kern and Sigmund Romberg; as well as a tribute to that most innovative of all the musical emigres Kurt Weill.
