FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT
Rhode Island singer/pianist John Abernathy teams up with the fabulous Savannah Devereaux in their new cabaret show "Love and Marriage" ay THE HI-HAT AT DAVOL SQUARE (3 Davol Square, Providence, RI - 401-453-6500) on Sunday, October 24th at 8:00 pm. The show features mostly Broadway music by Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Kander and Ebb, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, and many more. Partial proceeds for this performance will go to benefit Marriage Equality Rhode Island and Rhode Island Pride. John Abernathy was featured in the 16th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center in a tribute to Broadway composer Jerry Herman sharing the stage with legendary performers Lee Roy Reams, Michael Feinstein, Marilyn Maye, and Mr. Herman himself. He also received a nomination for Best Male Cabaret Performer from the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) for his show A Cock-Eyed Optimist in Boston. His CD's Look Straight Ahead and Live Out Loud! are both available on his website www.john-abernathy.com. Savannah Devereaux (AKA Seth Goulart) is the reigning Miss Gay Rhode Island 2010. She got her start in the drag scene of Providence by joining the Imperial Court of Rhode Island, a non-profit charity organization which raises funds through drag king and queen shows and various fundraisers. In the ICRI, she holds the title of Princess Royale for Life.
