NYC: KAREN OBERLIN in HEART & SOUL AT THE ALGONQUIN
MAC and Bistro Award-winner Karen Oberlin returns to the legendary THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-419-9331) for her first extended run Tuesdays through Saturdays, June 1st through 19th at 8:30 pm, with late shows on Fridays & Saturdays at 11:00 pm. Her show will celebrate the centenary of Frank Loesser, one of the greatest American songwriters, responsible for the Academy Award-winning "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Heart and Soul" and "Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year," not to mention the masterpieces Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella and the Pulitzer Prize-winning How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Oberlin will delve into the life and music of this fascinating composer and lyricist, as she performs many of his classics and exquisite rare finds. Oberlin plans to explore the endlessly delicious wit, beauty and depth of Loesser's film and Broadway songs. Eric Michael Gillett directs, Jon Weber serves as musical director and accompanist (with Tedd Firth for the final 5 performances), and Sean Smith plays the bass. Call for cover/minimum information.
