This major US Holiday marks the "official start" of summer - time to shed the "spring pastels" and don the "summer whites". Its a major shopping day replacing what was at one time a somber day, commemorating originally those who fell in the American Civil War, and at that time called "Decoration Day" when flowers and flags were placed on their graves. It was later expanded to include those who fell during WWI. These practices are nearly totally ignored today. Many cabaret rooms will be closed this day (some will be closed Saturday & Sunday, May 29th & 30th as well.
