NYC: MARCUS SIMEONE WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT ...

Multi-award winning singer Marcus Simeone will return to his cabaret roots at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) - where he made his cabaret debut in 2001 - for five special shows: Saturdays-, September 20th; Sunday, October 5th; and Saturdays, October 18th, November 22nd and December 20th, all shows at 7:00 pm. The new shows will celebrate the 2014 release of his latest album, "The Truth About ..." on the Miranda Music label. Joining Marcus for several evenings will be the popular and award winning Carolyn Montgonmery-Forant who returns to the cabaret scene after a family hiatus. Multi-award winner Tracy Stark will serve as music director along with acclaimed bassist Marco Brehm. For this special engagement, Marcus has also invited several cabaret friends as special guests. These include: Tim DiPasqua, Brett Kristofferson, Sue Matsuki, Maria Ottavia, Greg Kay Jones & Carolyn Montgomery-Forant . The last show will benefit the Gregory Kennell Fund with a surprise guest. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

PALM SPRINGS: JAN ABRAMS WITH "I'LL BE SEEING YOU"

Los Angeles cabaret singer Jan Abrams will perform "I'll Be Seeing You" at THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) on Sunday, October 5th at 2:00 pm. She is joined by musical director Christopher Marlowe on the baby grand. The event is part of Les Michaels' Sundays in Summer Series. Ms. Abrams was born in Bronx, New York, with a father and two uncles in piano tuning and a love for the Great American Songbook and her uncle Victor Abrams wrote songs recorded by Dinah Washington, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughn, and Nat King Cole. Jan remembers everyone coming for Sunday supper and to sing standards and Broadway show tunes to the wee hours. After graduation she moved to Manhattan and discovered and loved of the intimacy of cabaret performance and began singing regularly at the West Village's Scene One and Manhattan's Duplex, Grand Finale, Freddy's, Panache, Don't Tell Mama, and Eighty-Eight's. When Jan moved to Los Angeles she continued with shows at The Cinegrill, Masquer's, Catalina, and The Gardenia, as well as two previous shows at Joslyn Center and one at Annenberg Theatre. But her musical programs for seniors in retirement communities and Alzheimer facilities are one of her greatest joys. There is an $11 cash cover.

On Sunday, October 5th, Barb is joined by Gary Williams to celebrate the music of 1968. As the American government was digging deeper into Vietnam and Enoch Powell warned of "rivers of blood", Elvis was making his Comeback Special, the Beatles recorded the White album and Led Zeppelin was formed. Bob Dylan was at the height of fame and as Martin Luther King was assassinated, Andy Williams and Joan Baez jostled for chart position. Join Barb Jungr and Gary Williams for this special performance and rediscover one of the richest year's in musical history.
