CHICAGO: CELEBRATE NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY WITH MELISSA YOUNG

Celebrate National Coming Out Day with Melissa Young and Nick Sula at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) with Young's historical hit, 'Out And Proud: A Rainbow Celebration' on Thursday, October 9th and Saturday, October 11th, both shows at 8:00 pm. Five years ago, Young performed the music of the World's most loved Gay Icons to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, June 28, 1969 and now returns to celebrate the progress our country has made over the last fives years! Starting with Stonewall and Judy Garland, Young will follow the Gay Rights timeline, matching Icons to significant moments in Gay history, ending at the Equal Marriage fight of today. Dolly Parton's Light of the Clear Blue Morning in 1977 aligns with Anita Bryant and the S.O.C., Bette Midler's Do You Wanna Dance aligns with a post Stonewall New York (1971-73) of Bathhouses and Gay owned Discos. The creation of the Gay Pride flag 1979/80 and Diana Ross' I'm Coming Out! Young's passion for the history and where the movement is today comes across with laughter, heart and great love. Nick Sula is back with Young this time around at the piano and Daryl Nitz, of Chicago's longest running cabaret show, The Nitz Howe Experience, directs. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
