SAN DIEGO: KAREN GIORGIO IN "5 TIMES A LADY ..."

San Diego favorite Karen Giorgio takes the stage at MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500) with her all new show, "5 Times a Lady - Bette, Barbra, Judy, Ella & Billie - Their Songs, Their Stories," on Thursday, October 9th at 8:00 pm. Karen will be bringing you her own vocal stylings of Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Bette Midler, Billie Holiday and Judy Garland songs. Karen, with her wit, charm and immediate audience rapport, will delight you with the stories behind these songs and the lives of these Lady Legends. The fabulous trio accompanying Karen includes the talented Bryan Verhoye on piano, well-known bassist Glen Fisher, and the unique flair of Adrienne Nims on saxophone and flute. Directed by Ric Henry, There is a $20-$30 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: RICARDO LEMVO & MAKINA LOCA AT YOSHI'S

Ricardo Lemvo will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, October 9th at 8:00 pm. Lemvi has established himself as a pioneer with his innovative music. He is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin Diaspora which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm. Lemvo is truly multi-cultural and equally at home singing in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Lingala, and Kikongo. Raised in The Democratic Republic of the Congo (known as Zaire at the time) with Angolan family roots, Ricardo Lemvo came to the US in the 1980s to pursue a law degree and ended up devoting his life to music. He has recorded numerous international hit songs, which have earned him fame not only in North America and Europe but also in Angola, Colombia, Senegal and many other countries. Lemvo's six CDs, have been enthusiastically acclaimed by both print and broadcast media worldwide. His latest is the 2014 Cumbancha release, "La Rumba Soy Yo". There is a $25 cover. Dance Floor Open.
