The show is full of musical romance for grown ups with songs of love, lust, loss, cherished dreams and wisdom by such illustrious songwriters as Cole Porter, Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill, Stephen Sondheim, and of course, McBroom herself. What distinguishes McBroom from her contemporaries is her talent for writing exceptional songs that are flush with feelings and are witty and profound. Never over-the-top, her work seethes with a passion that is artfully funneled into music and lyrics revealed so well in her two most popular songs The Rose and Errol Flynn which McBroom wrote about her father, the actor David Bruce who worked with Flynn and Gary Cooper. LONDON: LONDONJAZZ TRANSLATES - NOEMI NUTI

LondonJazz TransLATES is a monthly series on Friday nights, starting at 10:30 pm atTHE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888). Each session of the series celebrates the directness of expression and communication that vocalists can achieve when performing songs in their mother tongue. Think of the series as hassle-free travel for people who don't have the time to plan, or to take a weekend away. Order a drink, house lights down, and you're taken - in the mind - straight to a foreign country and connected directly to the emotional heart of a different culture. The second of the LondonJazz TransLATES series on April 25th will present Noemi Nuti, celebrating the Italian Festa della Liberazione. Noemi is of Italian descent, was born in New York and spent her childhood in Bracciano, North of Rome. She is a jazz graduate of Trinity Laban, and has worked extensively with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, the London Vocal Project, and the UK's leading samba squad, Rhythms of the City. She also runs her own band exploring Latin repertoire; an album release is imminent. Her Crazy Coqs date will be a cascade of popular Italian songs, from songwriters such as Mina, Fabrizio De Andre, Mia Martini, Umberto Bindi, and Bruno Martino. With Sardinian guitarist Giorgio Serci and Kenny Wheeler's favourite young bassist, Andrea di Biase. The series is devised, and the singers and songs will be introduced and explained by jazz journalist, Sebastian Scotney, editor of LondonJazz News. Call for cover/minimum information.
