NYC: PALESTINIAN-ISRAELI STAR MIRA AWAD TONIGHT AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Internationally acclaimed Arab-Israeli singer/songwriter Mira Awad is joined by three special guests during her engagement at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday through Saturday, June 4th through 8th at 7:00 pm. Her special guests are the Israeli singer-songwriter David Broza on June 5th, American percussionist Shane Shanahan on June 6th, and the trumpeter from Luxembourg Ernie Hammes on June 7th. Appearing with Awad throughout the week is guitarist Avi Fox-Rosen. In "Arabic Fusion," Awad sings songs that reflect her unique perspective as a Palestinian Arab citizen of Israel. Weaving her passions for folk, rock and traditional Middle Eastern music, Awad, who sings in English and Arabic (with some Hebrew), creates a remarkable blend of sounds and sentiments that are as much exotic and magical as they are cosmopolitan. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
