NYC: ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY CELEBRATE LES PAUL'S 98TH BIRTHDAY THROUGH SUNDAY
In memory of the late Les Paul, IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) is proud to celebrate Les Paul's 98th birthday Friday through Sunday, June 7th through 9th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. To celebrate the occasion, ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY featuring Tal Bergman, Ron DeJesus, Mike Merritt, Renato Neto, Daniel Sadownick and Joe Bonamassa have been invited to perform. With its reboot of classic '70s /'80s jazz-funk, Rock Candy Funk Party (RCFP) delivers a sound that's as celebratory as the name suggests. The group is powered by a lineup of world renowned players who came together for the sheer fun of making music and a mutual love of genre-blurring grooves. With collective credits including Joe Zawinul, Hugh Masekela, Prince, Ruth Brown, Chaka Khan, Simples Minds, Billy Idol, Tito Puente, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Levon Helm, Conan O'Brien, Sheila E. and many more! RCFP's first album was released in January 2013 on Bonamassa's label, J&R Adventures isWe Want Groove. That demand is more than met with nine original tracks full of space and texture that mash up funk, jazz, and rock with virtuoso musicianship. While the album is instrumental, the interplay between RCFP's members is a riveting conversation all its own. There is a $55 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
