JAZZ IN A CABARET TONIGHT IN LONDON: LATE NIGHT JAZZ WITH ROBIN PHILLIPS
Robin Phillip continues an exciting introductory year to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL(20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) late-night jazz line-up on Saturday, November 28th at 10:30 pm. Phillips is making a name for himself as one of the UK's leading jazz singer pianists. His passionate performances are as informative as they are engaging and entertaining. With Joel Humann on upright bass and Claire Brock on drums, this energetic trio hark back to a golden age of jazz, but their arrangements have a distinctly modern edge. Inspired by singer / instrumentalists such as Harry Connick Jr and Chet Baker and jazz vocalists such as Mark Murphy, Mel Torme and Jon Hendricks, Robin's current passion is unearthing the lost introductions to many of the classic jazz standards. Tonight the trio perform a collection of classic and not-so-well-known jazz standards, each with their own story and many re-arranged with a modern feel, including material from Robin's two previous albums. Call for cover/minimum information.
