NYC: SALON RETURNS - THEME FOR THE EVENING: "TRUNK SONGS"
SALON - that unique, multiple award winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas will return to ETCETERA ETCETERA(352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sunday, October 18th from 7:00-10:30 pm. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15.) The optional theme for the evening is "Trunk Songs" (Songs written for one purpose or another but instead of being used for that purpose have been put away in the songwriter's "trunk" until another purpose came along for which they might be taken out of the trunk and used). Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Co-Host is Pianist / Composer Matthew Martin Ward! The Salon Spotlight will feature David Alpher & Jennie Litt. The Salon events are produced by Tanya Moberly. Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. They enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). Please also bring clear, complete charts for the accompanist to read. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $15 food/drink minimum (cash or credit) per person. Salon continues every Sunday (except November 15th).

Spotlight On Productions is proud to bring Teresa Fischer aka "Lady T" and her lively comedy musical hour COMEDY ROULETTE back to DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) for encore performances in October. Remaining shows are Sunday, October 18th at 7:00 pm; and Thursday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm. COMEDY ROULETTE features an all comedy song line-up including four game show segments where the audience get to choose what Lady T will sing next! The audience is enticed with clues, props and prizes! While presiding over the hilarity, second banana Frank even joins in on a song or two. And, yes, there will be puppets! Cabaret veteran Paul Chamlin is the musical director and one-man band for this fun evening. Frank Calo, Artistic Director of Spotlight On Productions directs. Lady T has taken everyone on quite a ride over the past few years with her shows DESTINATIONS AND DETOURS, HIP TO BE HAPPY and SCENE OF THE CRIME which was on Cabaret Hotline Online's Top Ten list for 2011. Her debut CD LET IT GO was released in the fall of 2012 and CHRISTMAS IS - a collaboration with Candice Corbin and Andrew David Sotomayor - was released in December 2013. NYC: CAROL LIPNIK CONTINUES SUNDAY NIGHT RESIDENCY AT PANGEA
Carol Lipnik has announced a new lineup of guest stars for her weekly residency on Sundays at 7:30 pm at PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) that runs through January 31, 2016. Lipnik is a spellbinding, darkly-humorous singer and songwriter who blends folk music and art song with the classic nightclub tradition. Currently scheduled are Rachel Mason (October 18th), David Cale (October 25th), John Kelly (November 8th) and Dane Terry (November 15th), with others to be added. The concert engagement is produced by TWEED TheaterWorks (Lypsinka), DAX MGMT (Weimar New York, Joey Arias) and Pangea. Carol is acclaimed for her hauntingly beautiful multi-octave voice and enchanting performances of her own ecstatically melancholy and wrenchingly honest songs. Carol and her pianist Matt Kanelos will be performing selections from Almost Back To Normal, her new recording from Mermaid Alley Music. In addition to critical plaudits, she has been praised by her fellow downtown performers as well including Justin Vivian Bond, Penny Arcade, and John Kelly. Each week Carol features a special guest performer. Recent guests have included Joey Arias, Justin Vivian Bond, John Kelly, Basil Twist, Penny Arcade, Joseph Keckler, Sweetie, Molly Pope, Kim David Smith, Amber Martin, Michael Cavadias as Claywoman, and Nick Hallett. "So You Wanna Be a Porn Star" will be presented at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) Sunday, October 18th at 7:00 pm. This Sexy rock-n-roll extravaganza is based on the upcoming new musical written by Shannon Burkett (Ride Down Mt. Morgan) with music by Peter Salett (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), and will be featuring an all star cast that includes James Carpinello (Rock of Ages). All proceeds are going towards Making Strides to Stand Up to Cancer. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: REBEKAH RUIZ AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, jazz vocalist Rebekah Ruiz returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 18th at 1:00 pm. Joining her on stage will be the very talented jazz pianist, Mr. Michael Kanan. Singing since she was a child, Ruiz was exposed to and developed a great love for jazz at a very young age by her father, who always had Sinatra, Nat King Cole, or Johnny Mathis playing. She has been destined to be in the spotlight. By the age of 15, it was undeniable that Rebekah possessed a unique gift: her vocal range and raw, natural talent shown through at local venues. Shortly thereafter, Ruiz moved to California, where her dream of performing jazz for a broader audience came true. Rebekah has since been performing consistently at jazz clubs and local restaurants in the Sacramento area. She went on to perform in the Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee for a several years. More recently, she has had the privilege of recording and performing vocals for Steinway Artist, Mr. Jim Martinez. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Dorian Woodruff presents his show "I Believe in Love" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 18th at 3:30 pm. A love song can stamp that moment in time for us. I Believe in Love is a journey of how we have loved, fallen in love, fallen out of love and no matter what else ... cherished that love. Directed by Lina Koutrakos and with Music Direction by Rick Jensen, this is an amazing ride. Woodruff is a versatile cabaret and jazz singer, director, writer and vocal coach. He has treaded the boards from the East to West Coasts with stops in Las Vegas, Dallas, Nashville and New Orleans. He has been fortunate to perform for audiences in London, Paris, Berlin and down to Rio de Janiero. In New York, he has appeared at Joe's Pub, 54 Below, Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex and his successful shows "I Believe in Love" and "Standard Time" at the Metropolitan Room. His singing career started at a young age with an influence from his maternal grandmother, who appeared in revues on the New York stage and taught him to sing great tunes. Dorian has delighted audiences with his charm, some questionable humor, and an engaging stage presence. He is an intimate performer who thrives on ballads, can swing any tune and is a dedicated follower of the American Songbook. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Deb Silver Swings an impressive range-bending take on the Classics of the Great American Songbook and introduces New Classics from her Off-Broadway musical "THIS LIFE!" Premiering November 2015 at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 18th at 9:30 pm. Deb has a career as a live performer and recording artist in England, New York City, the Palm Beaches of Florida and is a published songwriter. During her 13-year residency at Manhattan's Zinc Bar, Deb has steadily established herself as a swinging jazz vocalist with a smooth, pop cross-over appeal. She is recognized as both a sensual and witty interpreter and a highly accessible composer in her own right. Delivering her impressive take on the classics or contributing memorable songs of her own, Deb's focus remains on singing truly unique melodic interpretations with beautiful lyricism, whether she is on the road playing with world class musicians or with her core group of downtown NYC jazz players, infusing each song with the textured contours and lived-in familiarity that only the best long-term musical experience can provide. NYC: TOVAH FELDSHUH - AGING IS OPTIONAL
Tovah Feldshuh, acclaimed Broadway, film, and television star (currently on "The Walking Dead" as Deanna Monroe) returns to FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Saturday, October 17th at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, October 18th at 3:00 pm. On the New York stage, besides earning four Tony nominations for Best Actress, Ms. Feldshuh won four Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, the Obie, the Theatre World Award, and the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Actress, in Golda's Balcony. On the West Coast she received the San Diego's Theatre Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Performance in a Touring Show for Golda's Balcony as well and two Drama Logue awards for her Juliet and her first one woman show: Tovah: A Rush Hour Revue! This season, Washington DC awarded her the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Performance, and honored her with a visit to the White House to meet the President and First Lady. Most recently, Tovah stopped the show as the trapeze-swinging Berthe in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Pippin. Hunter Bell ([title of show], Grinch) and Susan Blackwell ([title of show], "Side By Side by Susan Blackwell") host an evening of fabulous performers sharing video of their most embarrassing moments onstage and then redeeming themselves by recreating that moment on Sunday, October 18th at 9:30 pm at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551). At the end of the evening, the audience will vote on the star performer who most redeemed themselves through their efforts that night. Current performers include Steven Pasquale (Bridges of Madison County, Bloodline), who developed the annual event as a fundraiser for the Performing Arts Project with his peers in mind, and Brian d'Arcy James (Something Rotten, Smash), and more performers will be announced. Let Me Try That Again: Take 3 is a benefit for The Performing Arts Project: a not-for-profit organization that provides vibrant theatrical training to a generation of young performers. Bell, Blackwell, and Pasquale are all on the faculty, alongside other Broadway, TV, and film performers. The Performing Arts Project offers dynamic and constantly evolving annual programming, the cornerstone of which is a three-week summer intensive during the month of July. Funds raised during this benefit will go directly towards scholarships and student programming costs. There is a $50-$500 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

Birdland's very own jazz quartet hits the stage every Sunday to wrap up the weekend with jazz classics featuring jazz vocalist Carole J. Bufford at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Sunday, October 18th at 6:00 pm. Carole J. Bufford has become a sought after young performer in the New York cabaret & jazz scene. Her recent shows, "Speak Easy." (featuring the Grammy Award-winning Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks) and "Body & Soul" earned her rave reviews across the board. She is the recipient several awards for Outstanding Vocalist. She has traveled all over the US (The Colony's Royal Room - Palm Beach; Venetian Room - Dallas; Cabaret 313 - Detroit; Broadway By The Bay - San Mateo; Upright Cabaret - L.A.) and recently made her London Debut to great critical acclaim.
