NYC: DARYL SHERMAN AT CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA
Daryl Sherman will celebrate the arrival of 2015 at CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Wednesday, December 31st from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am on the 1st of January. She is joined by bassist Harvie S and drummer Phil Stewart. For 14 years Ms. Sherman played and sang for savvy New Yorkers and international visitors at the Waldorf Astoria's famed Cole Porter Steinway. Last June, she headlined the annual Cole Porter Festival in his hometown of Peru, IN. Sherman has performed at The Algonquin's Oak Room, Feinstein's, Rose Hall with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy's Coca Cola and 59E59 Theaters where she was lauded for her band singer role in a centennial tribute to Artie Shaw. As a sparkling mainstay of Manhattan's nightlife, there's hardly jazz joint, supper club, Chinese restaurant or hotel that Daryl has missed. Her many recordings are in regular national rotation on Cable TV's Music Choice and Sirius/XM Radio. She was presented the 2010 MAC Award "Best Major Recording" for her Johnny Mercer Centennial CD - which was used in a Mercer documentary produced by Clint Eastwood. Natalie Douglas returns to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Wednesday, December 31st to celebrate 'A Very Natalie Year' with shows at 7:30 & 10:45 pm. Natalie is celebrating the end of her own incredible year, with performances at Carnegie Hall (where she was surprised with the 2014 Margaret Whiting Award), both Rose Hall and The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Crazy Coqs in London (twice) as well as Germany, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and always the wonderful Birdland, which now sports a Natalie portrait on its Wall of Fame! NYC: NEW YEAR'S EVE WITH LEWIS BLACK AT THE BEECHMAN
Comic, author, playwright, social critic and actor Lewis Black is back at his home base! He will be performing at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on New Years' Eve, Wednesday, December 31st at 8:00 pm. His special guest is Victoria Shaw. Musical director is den Ladin. Black is know for an increasingly angry rant, ridiculing history, politics, religion, trends and cultural phenomena. He hosted the Comedy Central series 'Lewis Black's Root of All Evil', and makes regular appearances on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart delivering his "Back in Black" commentary segment. He is due to appear in the upcoming Pixar film Inside Out, due for release in June 2015 as the voice of Anger. Dinner at 6:00 pm - showtime at 8:00 pm.
