WASHINGTON, DC: TED BAKER DECEMBER RESIDENCY AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS

Saxaphonist takes up a 4-week residency in December at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Tuesdays with shows at 7:30 & 9:00 pm. Tedd Baker has worked with a wide variety of great artists including Barry Harris, George Duke, Duane Eubanks, David Sanborn, Slide Hampton, Eddie Daniels, Jon Faddis, Vanessa Rubin, Josh Groban, Darren Barrett, Warren Wolf, Donnie McCaslin, Jeremy Pelt, Victor Lewis, Michael Mossman, Butch Warren, and Pete Yellin among others. He has also performed and/or recorded with New York Voices, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra under the direction of David Baker, Amina Figarova Sextet, Artie Shaw Orchestra, Washington Jazz Orchestra, Alan Baylock Orchestra, and the Frank Carlberg/Andrew Rathbun Orchestra. Baker, one of the most revered on the D.C. scene, has toured the world as part of the State Department's Jazz Ambassadors program and is a member of the U.S. Air Force jazz band, the Airmen of Note. But when he steps in front of his own combo, Baker's liable to bring the house down; he has a broad, powerful tone and a sure-footed improvisational attack that winds and zags. It's confident and questioning, all at once. There is a $15 cover.
