WASHINGTON, DC: WINARD HARPER & JELI POSSE AT BLUES ALLEY

Winard Harper & Jeli Posse, featuring Lori Williams, perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) on Tuesday, November 25th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Harper's lifelong jazz apprenticeship has taken him around the world. It includes playing and recording with many greats, including Betty Carter, Johnny Griffin, Dr. Billy Taylor and Dexter Gordon. Lori Williams is the lead vocalist of the Washington-based jazz ensemble - Lori Williams & Friends - and featured vocalist on The Saltman Knowles Group, The Blackbyrds, Allyn Johnson and Divine Order, Sherry Winston and Collaboration CDs. She is the Director of Vocal Music (Wilson High School) and has an extensive background in the performing arts. Lori Williams released her debut CD 'Healing Within' in 2010. WASHINGTON, DC: GEORGE V JOHNSON AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS

George V Johnson ends his one-month residency at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800 - ) on Tuesdays in November on the 25th with shows at 7:30 & 9:00 pm. Called "Heir Apparent" by the great Eddie Jefferson, Father of the Art of Jazz Vocalese, Johnson is considered as one of the foremost practitioners of the Art Form today. Throughout the 80's George was mentored and performed regularly with James Moody & Lou Donaldson, two of the greatest saxophonist in the history of Jazz. His close association with Moody led to perform at many jazz clubs, festivals, concert halls as well as local & National Live Radio and Television BroadcastFor the past several years performances with NEA Jazz Masters, Benny Golson, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Cobb, Jimmy Heath have sparked a new found interest in his career. His re-emergence on the jazz scene has blossomed to concerts at the American Jazz Museum "Tribute to Charlie Parker" with Bobby Watson, Detroit Jazz Festival with the Wallace Roney Orchestra, DC Poetry Festival, Parma Jazz Festival, Ashdod Super Jazz Festival, DC Jazz Festival, Raleigh NC, Richmond Va Jazz Festival, Bohemian Caverns and more. There is a $10 cover.
