NYC: DAVID DRAKE IN TAWNY TELL ME TRUE
Obie Award-winning playwright/performer David Drake (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) returns to New York with the premiere of TAWNY TELL ME TRUE atTHE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturdays, January 12th, 19th & 26th at 7:30 pm. Written by and starring Drake, this drag tragicomedy with music will be directed by Robert La Fosse (Tony Award nominee for Jerome Robbins' Broadway) featuring musical direction by Lance Cruce (Joan River's longtime pianist, Karen Finley's Make Love), original music by Trevor Kuprel, and video by Ned Stresen Reuter. The show is the latest tell-all by Tawny Heatherton, a lovably eccentric showbiz survivor and "one hit wonder" of the disco zeitgeist of the early 1980s - famous for her memorable international pop hit "Run Crazy Man." Tawny brings her singular blonde-swept brand of sunny, funny optimism while singing songs and recalling stories of alien abduction, her days as a child star on "Dark Shadows," and reuniting with her long-lost aunt Joey Heatherton at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
