TODAY IN NYC: GARIN & MILLIT "SLEEPLESS IN SEPTEMBER" EXTENDED DATE
Award-winning singer-songwriter Michael Garin, who's been a piano bar fixture in New York for more than two decades, teamed up with singer-comedienne Mardie Millit for a month of Mondays at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ), in September and now they've been extended one more show - Friday, October 1st at 7:30 pm. The duo, who have been described "Steve and Eydie on acid", perform weekly at Elaine's, where they have appeared for the past two years. At the Metropolitan Room, Garin and Millit premiere their new show, "Sleepless in September," which played four consecutive Mondays in September. The show, so named to exploit Garin's role as a composer-lyricist for the upcoming Broadway-bound musical "Sleepless in Seattle," brings together a dizzyingly eclectic mix of American and international standards, with a sprinkling of goofy Garin-penned classics which he's honed over the years as resident piano man at The Monkey Bar, The Rainbow Room, Cafe Feenjon and the notorious VIP Room at Limelight. Keira Naughton serves as the show's stage director. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
